A lovely late Victorian 18K gold locket enhanced with ornate pierced arabesques and pearl-studded laurel wreaths. The pearls have particularly nice color and luster. The cover opens to reveal a glass-enclosed compartment for a portrait or other keepsake. A small piece of cloth soaked in perfume could have been added behind the pierced cover to provide a bit of relief from the smelly Parisian streets of the 1800s. This indescribable set dates to about 1870 and is in amazing condition. It is crafted of 18k yellow gold frames and backings with enamel accents. The centerpieces are depictions of birds crafted of actual bird feathers and set behind what is most likely a piece of rock crystal. They are truly little pieces of art! All three of the birds are different and there is no damage to be found anywhere...

A Victorian 10k yellow gold ring featuring genuine blue iolites and natural seed pearls circa 1880s. The iolites are a deep royal blue gem stone in round antique cut. Burmese sapphires were expensive and often difficult to obtain in the late 19thC, so good quality iolites were sometimes used - these stones are original to the ring, not replacements. The flower circle design stayed popular into the Edwardian period, although Edwardian examples were usually simpler with less gem stones...

A eye-catching Victorian 14K yellow gold slide chain comprised of a fancy link chain and decorated slide. The engraved slide is adorned with four gray seed pearls flanked by two deep red garnets. nusual, rarely seen signet ring with a striking stone of banded agate. The ring has a very small cartouche stamp on the back, it could possibly be the harp indicated Irish origin. Banded agate is a form of quartz with parallel bands of black and white resulting from mineral deposits layering over time, thus the term “banded.” The carved scrolls along the sides are a distinctly Victorian feature, often seen on gold bands during this period and they help to date the ring...

An unusually nice Victorian gold-filled locket in the aesthetic taste. The front features a marsh scene of reeds and flowers growing alongside the water’s edge, all worked in different shades of gold. The design is enclosed within an engraved border. The back of the locket is engraved with multiple designs akin to a crazy quilt.

An amusing late Victorian brooch fashioned as two crossed golf clubs. The shafts are worked in 18K yellow gold, while the heads are made in platinum. A small pearl, representing a golf ball rests against each club. Sporting jewelry is quite desirable, and golf-related pieces are particularly rare. The back retains the original pinstem and c-clasp. Stamped with French hallmarks.

A nice Victorian 14K gold by-pass bangle bracelet, the top adorned with a spray of wheat set with turquoise cabochons and tiny seed pearls. In the Victorian era, sprays of wheat were intended to represent “posperity.” At a time when a woman’s fortunes depended entirely upon those of her husband, a bracelet such as this may have been gifted for the wedding as a hope for the bride’s future prosperity.
