An early Taxco treasure, this Mexican Deco cuff bracelet is both generous in weight and wrought in fine, .980 silver. The design is classic for the period and I have seen all-silver versions of it over the years by anonymous and recognizable names, that of Emma and La Cucaracha being among the most famous. The marriage of silver and copper that we are treated to here, however, I have never encountered before...

Bearing the signature of maestro Barrera this carefully made figural brooch depicts a richly clad person, most probably a nobleman or priest, with hands forming a very distinct gesture as if he takes part in a ritual or is performing a dance. Barrera , I suspect, worked in Mexico City, and created some impressive jewelry in the style associated with it...

A vintage hammered sterling silver circles necklace and bangle bracelet in the style of the American Studio Modernist jeweler, John Lewis. These examples are both signed 'jb' and sterling, but it is unclear who this was and if they had any relationship to Lewis. They are even signed the same way but with jb instead of the crossed JL.
The necklace has a lightly hammered texture, circles are various sizes. Measures 18" long with the widest circle measuring 7/8". Very delicate, weighs 8 gr...
An elegant gilt sterling silver oval brooch by Kirk in the "Repousse" pattern. Kirk made a range of jewelry in this pattern but only a few were then gilt. Carved Shell Cameo set in a silver frame with a gold colored rope twist accent. The frame is marked only 800 in an oval and is most likely Italian. The carving is excellent, with highlights of different colors left in the hair. The frame has a pin closure and a moveable bail so it can be worn as a pin or a pendant. The profile of the woman and mark on the frame suggests Victorian era of 1875 - 1880's. Condition is excellent.
This pretty and detailed pin might depict St. Catherine (patroness of young maidens and female scholars – we like her!). There is a wheel in the background (possibly a “Catherine Wheel,” but it could also just be a ship's wheel or a spinning wheel), and a flower in the foreground. Her clothing looks very Renaissance-era to us. Marked “SILVER” on the C-clasp, with an illegible maker’s mark, the metal tests as sterling, and she’s a dainty 7/8” in diameter. 2.5g. In excellent condit...

Very rare and stunning vintage Georg Jensen Denmark sterling bracelet no. 181 designed by Ibe Dahlquist in the 60’s. The interlocking links are very sculptural and the clasp is invisible and ingenious. Measuring 7 1/2” end to end, it is 1” wide and weighs 58 grams. It is in fine original condition and signed as shown. This bracelet and its matching necklace are pictured on page 177 of Janet Drucker’s book GEORG JENSEN A TRADITION OF SPLENDID SILVER. CROSS 500.00 NECKLACE 250.00 We have a Los Castillo, huge 3in. long cross weighing 37 grams. The silver is thick and layered to achieve more dimension. The condition is excellent with no damage. There is a spot in my pictures that looks like a scratch but it is not and not in all pictures. While hunting for a necklace to display the Castillo cross on I came across this one. How could it be any more perfect? It came filled with all the 8 small crosses and the weight is a hefty 91 grams. It is al...
Set with four pieces of green art glass to resemble jade, alternating with Egyptian motifs. The central oval piece is flanked by applied openwork lotus blossoms; the sides exhibit applied elongated elements, possibly symbolizing the eye of Ra. The bracelet is probably American, dating 1920s-30s, and is marked sterling. The glass stones show signs of wear, and one of the smaller stones has a small chip to the side, but all are well secured in their bezel mountings. The bangle measures 3 ½ inches...
Based on an original, almost impossible to find Margot de Taxco design, the repousse "swans-in-a-row" bracelet I am presenting here is wrought in fine, .980 silver and is a little masterpiece. I think suggesting that "A.E.M", whose initials can be found on it, was a maestro who worked for the Los Castillo and/or Margot de Taxco is not a far-fetched hypothesis. Not only is this piece very close to Margot's creation, it is also extremely well made, very sculptural and has crisp, rich detail to it....

These lovely sterling vermeil, enamel earrings have a unique and beautiful design. They are in the shape of a 4-leaf clover with wonderful white guilloche enamel. Each enamel clover is decorated with a flowing, applied openwork, wiretwist design, following the shape of the clover. The earrings are clipbacks and are marked, “STERLING NORWAY” beneath an “H” inside a circle (the maker’s mark for Ivar T. Holt). The clipbacks themselves are marked, “830S” with the “H” inside the...
