G." or similar. The ship flies an unidentified flag at the stern. I feel this is likely European though it could possibly be of American origin...

Artist C.R. McIntyre brings to life a charming realistic portrait done and thinking Creon of the older gentleman with a hat and cane measuring 9 x 7“ and framed in a 16 x 14“ frame
One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not yet added to my shop), this is a fine image in charcoal with some strategic and deftly placed green, red and blue color added with chalk or pastel, 12" by 16 3/4", unframed, signed at lower right, and dated there 8/20 '58, by the California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968)...
Original signed poster for the Whitney Museum showing of "For Example", a 1972 movie by Shusaku Arakawa (1936-2010), from the Mechanism of Meaning project by Arakawa and Madeline Gins. This framed poster is in excellent framed condition and is signed in pencil lower right by both artists. We also have an original mixed media painting by Arakawa available, from the early sixties. Both pieces come from the same New York estate.
Max Kassler, American 1905–1992 was an abstract Artist known for some of the most unusual experimental work based on the human figure He was an early student of the Picasso school of painting. This work culminated his idea of abstraction in space. This is part of the collection we have at the gallery. Black ink, red watercolor and white gouache drawing, unsigned, 22 1/2" by 15", unsigned, the figure playing a mandolin or lute, wearing poofy medieval-style pantaloons, and sporting a Dali-esque moustache. The drawing definitely has some age, maybe circa mid century. The camera somewhat overstates the color difference between top (more brownish) and bottom (less browned) half; I can't explain the variation...
An unusually fine watercolor and ink drawing of palms adjacent to what appear to be Mediterranean-architecture buildings in a landscape, signed at lower right with what appears to be "Ed. Gilmond" and dated there 1926. The artist is actually Belgium-born Edgar Gilmont (1887-1949). The drawing measures 20" by 15 1/2" inside the mat...

Gouache and watercolor on paper drawing, 11" by 8 1/2", in metal framing, no glass, signed at bottom right possibly "LEE" and perhaps a date "41" or "47" after that. The framing was done in the Seattle area (see sticker), and putting the style together with that framing information, I feel that perhaps this might be by an artist working in the Mark Tobey school in the Northwest, but this is speculation. The work certainly resembles Mark Tobey's work in many respects...
This round shape gold hair (acicular) crystal is 3 ¼ inches tall, 2 ¼ inches wide and 1 ½ inches thick. It depicts a group of Chinese goldfish swimming in a weed filled pond. The gold hairs (or needles) make this well painted bottle even more interesting. The artist Shi Qing studied at Zhejiang Academy of Art. In 1983, he studied under Master Wang Guan-Yu. He is well known for his paintings of landscape, birds and flowers...
