Circa 1870's watercolor, in Victorian or turn of the century gold frame, signed at lower left. Signed by an apparently little known artist, Carl H. Schmidt. The watercolor measures 9 1/2" by 13 1/4" (21" by 24 1/2" framed). The scenery portrayed is perhaps in the Northeast states. When I originally acquired this item, it was with a watercolor of Florida (copied from a Currier and Ives print), signed by the same artist. That piece, of the same age as this, was sold separately.
This is from a Delaware USA Estate. The WATERCOLOR with SHORELINE and SAILBOATS is Framed and under glass. Sailboats Foreground and on the Horizon. The Sight size is 9 1/2" X
12 3/4"; 12 3/4" X 15 1/2" Framed. Signed and dated lower left.

A fine early watercolor with gum arabic highlighting, the subject a stag in a landscape, by a well-listed English 19th century artist, NEWTON SMITH FIELDING (1799-1856). The signature is actually on that second piece of paper, in pencil, at lower center. Fielding was born in England and died in Paris...
A watercolor painting of raspberries in a small wicker basket, signed at lower right center with what appears as "J. L. Guinand", and dated there 1895. The work could be by a French artist or perhaps by an American with a French name. I do not see a listing for such an artist. The work measures 7 1/4" by 11 1/2" and 17 3/4" by 21 3/4" framed. The paper is slightly puckered and there is a small unexplained blue area at far right edge that seems out of place...

A Beautiful 19th Century French Artist L. De Tourneville Parisian Scene Watercolor 8x10”, signed lower left
This is a very finely executed watercolor on paper of a young woman in the clothing of the old country. I've opened this up and see that the work is on paper laid on a board, and it is not signed. The measurements inside the gold mat are 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (17" by 13" in ornate old frame). I am sure, given the quality of the work (note the care lavished on the eyes and face, in particular), that the artist would be someone recognized and listed...
A very well rendered watercolor painting on paper, of a Union officer. There is a large amount of background detailing, showing camp tents by a river, with the American flag flying. Superb condition. 8 1/4" by 6 1/4"
Watercolor on paper country road scene with figure and possibly a horse, 4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat, signed at lower right "Lauro" and inscribed "A mi querido cunado (brother-in-law) Daniel" and dated 1881. I have searched for a listed artist that could correspond to this name but have not come up with a compatible listing. Purchased this at a flea market in Buenos Aires, Argentina...

Watercolor on paper laid down long ago on a thin old board, the subject being fruit, including green and purple grapes as well as a melon, measuring 10 3/4" by 18 1/4" inside the mat (19" by 26 1/2" as framed), apparently unsigned, dating likely to the late nineteenth century. This is a fine example of American still life art of the period. I would imagine the unknown artist would be listed, due to the quality of the work...
