An impressively detailed circa 1860's watercolor of Lausanne in western Switzerland, signed at lower right by listed French artist Achille Gratien Gallier (1814-1871). The 150 year old work is in excellent condition, appearing to have been done yesterday. The scene is the Cathedral of Notre Dame (dating to as early as 1170) and nearby buildings, with tiny figures in the foreground, and even their hound dogs playing at lower left...

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in). The wood and the painting has been professionally conserved to protect from further deterioration.

EIGHT small original watercolors of famous sights of Venice, Italy, signed but signature not fully legible. The works are identically framed and measure 8" by 10". More than likely, these were painted for the tourist market and brought to the US unframed, in the luggage of a visitor. All are clean. One of the eight, for some reason, has an overmat that is removable. During photography outside, within seconds, condensation beads formed under the glass, with no permanent consequence...

Watercolor on paper, 8 1/2" by 17 1/2" inside the mat (13 1/2" by 22 1/2" in its very nice circa 1920 vintage frame), signed at lower right and inscribed there "Munich" by the well listed American artist CHARLES PAUL GRUPPE (1860-1940). The subject is a creek or small lake or pond at sunset. Born in Ontario, Canada, Gruppe was in Europe by age 20, where he explored France, Germany and Holland. I imagine that this work would date to that early 1880's period when he would have been in Germany....
