Oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, signed at lower right in red "SOON" and with artist's device, signed there "86", the subject a thatched roof village fronting low mountains, clothes hanging to dry in the breeze. This appear to be most likely Korean art, perhaps by a Korean-American, considering the American size stretcher. The name is common in Korea but I don't believe the artist is well known. The work is highly impressionistic and with a frame this will look even better...

Probably tourist art, this is nicely framed and the mat is clean, making for a decorative and inexpensive Asian accent for the home.

This contemporary work shows the old classic buildings and the new distinctive tower and bridge in the distance, all painted in a meticulous and impressive highly impressionistic pointillist technique. I have looked for information on the talented artist but to date cannot pinpoint the artist...

Large oil on canvas painting of traditional sailing craft on the ocean, 24 1/2" by 34", 26 3/4" by 34 1/4" as framed), painted in an impressionist manner with palette knife, signed at lower right with the familiar "C Buenaventura" signature and "Manila 1964". The artist is CESAR BUENAVENTURA (1922-1983). Cesar was a son of well listed artist Teodoro Buenaventura Fernando Amorsolo the great Filipino artist was Cesar's godfather. The painting is in excellent vintage condition...

A soothing contemporary oil on canvas painting of a mule-drawn cart and its rider on a dirt track in the tropical forest, 19 1/2" by 27 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right by artist Fernando Danni or "Darni". I do not see a listing for this name but the artist displays here a skilled impressionist technique. Note the purple, and yellow, blooming trees at right and the fine handling of light and shadow. Condition is excellent.

Oil on canvas, unframed, 15 3/4" by 11 3/4", unsigned, the subject a colorful Indonesian or Chinese traditional dancer in elaborate costume, complete with extra long fingernails and fierce-looking mask. The work was likely executed in the past twenty years or so. A Chinese ad for cigarettes is used as backing paper (a tear in that). This is a most decorative piece that took a long time to create.

A beautifully painted impressionist view of the charming Filipino countryside, " by ", unframed, signed at lower right "T. I. SANCHEZ Manila", and dated there 1963. The unframed oil on canvas is in excellent overall condition. I note a slight dimple/depression at left which is visible when viewed in raking light (see photo). A light cleaning would be beneficial. Sanchez does not appear to be a listed artist but was certainly a talent, in the tradition of the great Fernando Amorsolo...

It is a bit loose on the stretcher but otherwise is in good condition. Major star's name is Nigar Shyam, and there is writing in Arabic which I would imagine place this in the northern or western part of the country.

PAIR of oil on canvas paintings, each 18" by 24" (one unframed, the other 20" by 26" in simple wood framing), both signed at lower right by the well-known Filipino artist SALVADOR CABRERA (1930-1986).
