Unsigned acrylic/oil portrait of a woman worker acquired from a Hong Kong auction. I am assuming this was painted while China and Russia were still friends so would date this pre 1960. Good example of Socialist Realism (girl meets tractor) kitsch, W: 35cm/13.8in and H: 45.cm/17.8in.

The work measures 24" by 18" (31" by 24 1/2" framed). The church with its Churrigueresque decorations dating to the 17th century is famous and a frequent subject of artists. A watercolor painting of pine or cypress trees on the coast, perhaps a place like Carmel or Santa Barbara, measuring 14 3/4" by 18 3/4" (20" by 23 1/2" framed). The work is unsigned, (I have opened it up to peek inside, no writing anywhere) and judging from the framing it could date to the 1970's or 1960's. The artist used quality Arches paper (see blind stamp of same). The painting is clean and problem-free; over the years it has slipped inside its mat so will have to be probably re-affixed.

English or Scottish oil on canvas, (or, possibly a continental Europe scene executed by a British artist), 20" by 30" (26" by 36" as framed), signed at lower right "David Dundas", showing a peaceful high mountain lake with distant snowy mountains. I do not see a listing for the artist but the painting has a professional touch and is very decorative and satisfying. Note the reflections, the sky/high clouds, lighting, composition...

Circa 1900 American pastel landscape drawing, 22 1/2" by 9 3/4" (29" by 15" framed), apparently unsigned, in the style of William Chandler and the pastel school of the period. The work is framed behind non-glare glass, which blurs the detail. Condition appears to be excellent. The vertical format would fit your hard-to-fit narrow wall. Thinned oil or possibly water-based casein/tempera on small board painting, 7 1/4" by 5 1/4" framed, signed at lower right by noted American artist Carol Jablonsky (1939-1992). The image is of a young female child, I believe of Native American or Mexican heritage. Jablonsky died at a young age but left behind a large body of work, including prints and original paintings...

Oil on linen laid on board, 16 1/4" by 23 1/4", the simple modern frame about 1 1/4" wide, signed at lower right by listed California woman artist M.E. HODGDON, not dated but likely before 1920. The painting recently came out of Maine, where it had possibly resided for decades, perhaps brought east by an early day traveler wanting a souvenir. The artist, MARY E. HODGDON, is said by Hughes in his dictionary of California artists to have been a resident of Los Angeles between 1912 and 1922...

Antique watercolor painting of a castle-like structure in an extensive landscape, 7 1/4" by 10 7/8", 14" by 17" in frame, signed with initials "M. N" and dated 1882 and, curiously, also 1888, at lower left corner. This is likely by an amateur watercolorist. The work is a survivor, with paper browning, broken off corners, and a small puncture at center right. Presently it is loose and unmounted within the framing.
