Originally conceived as part of a figural group for a larger commission, Charity depicts the doting love of a mother for her two children. Paul Dubois ( 1829 - 1905 ) originally exhibited it at the Salon of 1877. The famed Barbedienne foundry reproduced smaller versions for interior decoration. This particular version is 18", signed Paul Dubois, and stamped with the Foundry mark. Condition is very good with slight wear of patina to high points such as knee and nose...

Carl Milles Danish (1875-1955) Leaping Deer bronze sculpture. A fine example of this artists work. In excellent condition measuring 13 inches tall cast at Lrasmussen foundry Copenhagen. Carl Milles dominated the Swedish art world. He received many public commissions in Sweden and abroad. He was a monumental sculptor who received many public art commissions at a time when many cities expanded and were modernised.

From our European Collection, a fine late 19th-early 20th century carved marble bust of Madame Recamier, modeled after the original by Joseph Chinard circa 1801-02, which was previously on display at the Getty Center Los Angeles, where the museum description read as follows:

"Coyly looking down, Madame Recamier holds a veil across her chest. The sheath both demurely conceals and reveals her breasts...

Large crater bowl, thinly potted of black clay and with green glaze pitted with craters for volcanic effect, Signed Lovera; Jamese Lovera (American, b. 1920) modernist potter. James Lovera exhibited at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento in 2006: "Craters of Fire: Ceramics by James Lovera".

A Bronze Sculpture "Folded Needle" by Shim Moon Sup(b.1942): Korea, Korean. A Long solid bronze folded sculpture with a green painated and Some broze naive standing in the cylindrical Granite stone base, it's a very long and heavy sculpture by Moon Sup Shim, the ex-owner bought the sculpture directly at the Jin Gallery, Seoul, 1990s. It's in very fine condition without any damages at all. Measurents: 25.5" (65cm) overall. and 55cm x 5cm x 2.5cm bronze only.

A 4" long carved soapstone Inuit figure of a basking seal. This fine sculpture is by the diverse and talented Ernesto Montenegro. Titled "Crosswalk," it displays pedestrians walking across the street. Montenegro's "magic" gives the viewer a bird's-eye perspective, as if looking down from above on the pedestrians. Montenegro achieves this illusion by dramatically abridging the figures. When viewed sideways, the people have grossly stunted legs, walking down the vertical face of the sculpture as if propelled across the street by gravity...

A fine, large bronze animalier sculpture by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-74). The figure represents a pair of pheasants, one perched on a gnarled barren branch while the other appears to strut along the ground. The body position of the lower bird gives the composition a great deal of movement that is often missing in classical animalier bronzes. The ground is covered in long grass that is somewhat less common than Pautrot's more characteristic rocky ground...

A fine bronze animalier sculpture by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-74). The figure represents a pair of songbirds, one of which has caught a fly in its mouth. The other bird appears to be contemplating the possibility of wresting the insect from his companion. Both birds are perched on the rocky ground typical of Pautrot's work. An upright flowering plant appears at one end of the composition. Along with Mène and Moigniez, Pautrot was considered the be France's finest sculptor of animal figures....

Antoniucci Volti, French, 1915-1989. This outstanding bronze is a nude woman sitting on the ground and bent over. It is bronze dark brown/black patina with touches of green. Inscribed "Volti" and Epreuve d' Artiste 2/2" and "Susse Fond Paris." Width 9" Hight 5 1/2." It is in perfect condition and has excellent provenance from Galerie Cardan, Paris, 1976.
