Having conceived of the revolutionary idea of a lithographed, molded-mask doll face in 1901, New Yorker, Albert Bruckner applied for and was awarded the patent for his idea that same year. All Bruckner dolls were then stamped, "PAT'D JULY 8th 1901" on the lower right neck edge.

From 1901-1924, Bruckner produced this original, 12" Topsy Turvy doll for Horsman's Babyland Rag Doll line that features Caucasian, "Betty", on one end and African American, "Topsy", on the other...

A Mauchline ware Flume, White Mountains, N.H. bank circa 1900. This unusual late Victorian Mauchlineware barrel shaped 3-1/8" high wooden coin bank was made in Scotland and it has a decal depicting the Flume gorge in the Franconia Notch State Park, White Mountains, N.H. (New Hampshire, U.S.A.). It also has a decal stating SCOTLAND on the back and it was made as a souvenir for the U.S. market...

Entitled "A Little Colored Boy and Other Stories, this extremely scarce, small folio book was the property of Reverend J. H. Jackson, pastor of the Greenburg, Indiana, A.M.E. (African Methodist Episcopalian) Church.

The book contains lovely black ink line drawings and etchings which accompany a great variety of wonderful short stories for children designed to teach strong moral values, attitudes and behaviors. The story, A Little Colored Boy, is the first and the longest tale in the book...

This exciting horse drawn fire engine is clearly in a race against time, but the timelessness of this toy endures. It features a single horse pulling a fire pumper driven by a single fireman. We believe that the paint may be from a very old repaint job but it has, ironically, protected it from rust. The right rear wheel is missing a cap and all wheels are wobbly.
