Different colors and types of wood make the map very interesting, and names of towns and cities are written in black ink. The lid does not completely close.

These impressive heavily potted large vases are of a baluster form with everted rims, and are finely painted in a rich and vivid polychrome enamel with panels with figural scenes depicting Ming Dynasty court life, along with a floral motif with birds. The motif around the shoulder is of the “Eight Precious Symbols”, and above is a row of tobacco leaves. The pair of gilt elephant heads on either side with a coral detail in the middle of their foreheads.

Yu Shi's original name is Zhang Yu-Xiao. He was born in 1979 in Hebei province. He enjoys painting Buddha, Guan-Yin, Bodhidharma and other Buddhist figures. One side of the snuff bottle is the image of Daruma (達磨) and the other side is Budai or Hotai (布袋和尚). It is in great condition.
