A 1930's Santa Clause figurine with a composition face and boots, a cotton batting beard, a felt jacket, and a cotton toy bag and pants. He stands on a mica-covered paperboard base. Unmarked, but definitely pre-war Japanese. Some of the Japanese Santas have rather fearsome faces, but this one is quite jolly. At 7" tall, he's also a bit larger than most.

Antique early 19th century or earlier Islamic Turkish Ottoman bronze hawking drum known as Nakare. A squat domed form body with square lug finial pierced with a hole for suspension rope, engraved with decorative concentric bands. It is also engraved with an Arabic script that runs around the outer half of the drum, “Syed Mahmoud, Son of Syed Lesa” and the Hijri date 1232 (circa 1816 AD).

It is possible that the inscription was engraved for the new owner, and the drum is much older.

A striking hand carved sculpture of a female, likely mid to late 20th century, measuring approximately 17 3/4" in height and 6" in width. When you look at the work, it is easy to see how Picasso, Vlaminck, Derain and Matisse were so influenced by African sculpture. SOLD A very rare, museum-quality antique medieval pair of Avar iron stirrups from the 6th-7th centuries. Each with an arched crossbar, apple-shaped stirrups surmounted at the top with an elongated suspension loop pierced with a slot to receive a suspension strap. The concave footpad is ribbed at the bottom and pierced with triangular and circular holes for drainage.

A rare antique medieval, 9th-10th century, Khazar horse curb bit, entirely hand forged from several elements of solid iron, composed of two bars, called canons, with a loop for reins. Each canon is connected to a curved cheekpiece affixed with two slabs pierced with rectangular holes to mount the harness.
