Takao Takei was very prolific artist, best known for illustrating children’s books. He created numerous artworks, mostly woodblock prints, and his famous limited edition series of printed books titled “Kanpon” pushed the limits of printing. These volumes were regularly printed as updates in the Kanpon series, with articles by Takao and other scholars.
Fourteen volumes included are 32-34, 37, 40, 41, 43-48, 52 and 53. Published between 1973 and 1983...

This is an excellent and intricately carved very charming small netsuke, made by our own Pennsylvania native, David Carlin. He describes it as a "Small, finely detailed representation of the bottom half of a man seeming to be passing through a tombstone with "RIP" etched on it.
