This type of tissue holder is called Hakoseko. They are still being used for very special ceremonial occasions. The older one in this quality is now a collecter's item.

This hair comb and kogai hair pin set is probably from the Taisho to early Showa period, 1920 to 1945. Tortoiseshell. There is an artist signature on the hair pin. Please wear this with a half of signature on each side for better fitting -- see enlargement6. Other than that, it is in good condition.

The box is 6.6 inches (16.8 cm) tall by 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long and 9.2 inches (23.3 cm) wide. Each tile is 0.4 inch thick (1 cm) by 1.2 inches (3 cm) in length and 0.78 inch (2 cm) wide. The total weight is 9.3 Lb.
