This very well-carved lapis of a fairy (Ma Gu) is 8 ¾” high (with fitted wood base, it is 10 ¼” high), 8 ¼” wide and 2” thick. It depicts Ma Gu, the beautiful, young fairy who always brings joy to a birthday celebration. Her right hand is holding a platter containing a wine bottle, peaches, Buddha-hand citron and pomegranates. A boy and girl holding a giant peach with both hands are standing near her.
