Conceived by 20th century master ceramicist Kawai Kanjiro—here an abstract depiction of flowers is used to adorn an exquisite “henko” shaped vase. The glaze used is known as “tetsu-yu” for its use of iron compounds to achieve this distinctive look. Though many pieces by Kanjiro remain today, this exact combination of style, shape, and glazing is uncommon, making this a must-have work for serious collectors...

Chinese porcelain baluster vase painted in late 'famille rose' style on a white ground with a group of Immortals resting in a landscape. The base glazed white with a six character Jiaqing mark in iron red and of the period.

Condition: There is a gash in the top rim extending approximately 1". A restorer can repair this vase at minimal cost.

From our African Collection: A Nok Terracotta Figure, 18" w, 50" h. The small head is 3 x 4". Nok refers to the culture associated with a one hundred square kilometer area in central Nigeria where thousands of terracotta figures were found. These figures were first encountered in tin mines by Colonel J. Dent Young in 1928 and were classified as Nok by Bernard Fagg in 1943...

A rare example of an early 1920's antique Japanese barber chair. The chair is made from hand forged iron with solid elm wood framing. Seat, arm rests, and head rest are wrapped in the original black leather. The position of the seat is adjustable to recline. Headrest is adjustable to many lengths.

Pair of Han Dynasty Winged Doist Imortals in Bronze. The near matching figures one with its core and the other with less patina has remains of a black lacquer surface. Beautiful detail . There are similar figures like these in Chinese museums. Google search for "Doist winged figures playing" and you can see similar pieces .
