Made of black walnut with smooth natural finish, with special decorative elements such as lighter "ash" hardwood "keys", and "butterflies" on the inner leg to hold the natural fissures of the wood. Pairpoint vase with sterling foot, scalloped rim and handles. The 5 3/4 inch tall vase is copper wheel engraved in a foliate pattern. The foot is marked “Sterling 85" and “Black, Starr & Frost.” The Black, Starr & Frost signature dates the piece to no later than 1929.
