Rather unusual Japanese porcelain obidome / netsuke in a shape of a mask of a female theatrical character Waka-Onna. Obidome is worn on an obi cord that holds the obi sash together, and is the only type of jewelry worn by Japanese women on formal occasions. Very clever design, excellent modeling and enameling - see her crisp features and delicate toning of the face. Bar on the back for an obi or netsuke cord, in perfect condition. Measuring 5 1/4" across & weighing 156 grams this 940 sterling silver dish was designed by Taxco, Mexico designer Hector Aguilar. The dish is centered with a 1951 coin with a HIDALGO profile. The reverse side of the coin features an eagle fighting a serpent. This candy dish is pictured on p. 67 of SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny Morrill. HA, 940, TAXCO, & TALLER BORDA and eagle 9 hallmarks are found on the underside rim of the dish.

In 1965 "THE WORLD OF SPRATLING" museum exhibit touring the U.S. included this design in their collection. Rosewood and sterling silver are used in this ovoid piece which stands 1 3/4" high & 4 3/4" long. The tray is in beautiful condition. It is pictured on Phyllis Goddards spratlingsilver.com and in MEXICAN Silver by Penny Morrill and Carole Berk. Spratling 1950's hallmarks are on the underside.

This six-sided bangle is a truly rare Georg Jensen piece and undoubtedly has gone out of production. It was bought in 1968 and has not been worn very much. This is a design done more than 50 years ago and a long-time GJ dealer in New York says he cannot remember ever having seen the piece. Inside one of the six sides of the bangle is the Georg Jensen mark in a circle of dots, 925S Denmark, and the number 177. The internal diameter is 7cm (2.75in).

This Georg Jensen sterling silver and onyx ring—no.97—was created decades ago (probably in the 1950s) by the jewelry designers Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel. Their NJ mark is inside the ring as well as the Georg Jensen mark, 925-S, Denmark, and the number 97. The ring sits about a centimeter or roughly a quarter of an inch above the finger. The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. A beautiful bird sits on a flowering branch while in insect flutters by. The style is Japanese Kakiemon, done in shades of blue, green. and violet. The cup is sparsely decorated with a flower sprig here and a bug, in a minimalist manner...
