Chinese cabinet made of jumu (elm) wood with tapering A-line design, deep translucent red lacquer finish, two drawers at bottom, 2 removable shelves inside, 74" high x 39 1/2" wide x 21" deep.

A pair of deeply carved Chinese cinnabar lacquer trays, with flower petal edges, the surfaces carved with foliate imagery such as peaches, pomegranates, citron, persimmon, and berries. Similar pieces can be seen from the 15th/16th century. Most likely this pair dates from the early 20th century.

The cloisonne is done in a technique aka-sukashi, ginbari, where the metal base contains a pattern which is showing through the red cloisonne glaze. Pair of Edwardian sterling silver creamer and sugar. Made by S. Kirk & Son Inc. in Baltimore. Ovoid bodies and high looping handles. Creamer has helmet mouth and sugar has raised cover and finial. Frond and flower repousse; at bottom leaf and scallop shell border. Fully marked including maker’s stamp (1925-32), no. 74, and phrase “Hand Decorated”. Very good condition.
