Hakata doll was originated by a roof tile maker in the early 17C during the construction of Fukuoka castle. Hakata is located on the Kyushu island (southern island), famous to other porcelain makers such as Satsuma, Imari, Nabeshima and Hirado. This handsom groom is 7 1/2" tall and almost in mint condition. She is 8" tall in excellent condition with some minor stains on her right arm area as shown in one of the picture.

Japanese Gosho Ningyô with Samurai Attire, Signed by the 10th Generation Ningyo Artist Rozon. This master work is the results of ten generations and three centuries of ningyo artists. Unfortunately, it seems it is the end of the line for this studio. The children are not interested in continuing, which we think is sad. This Gosho is one of the most amazing examples of 20th century Japanese art. It features so many wonderful examples of great Japanese art forms...

Cambridge Chantilly Etched Decanter is a rarity! with the Silver Plated Base!! This decanter is 9" tall with its stopper. Made from 1936-58. It is in excellent condition -- no scratches, no clouding, no nicks.

This charming pair of vintage glass hound dogs, made by Archimede Seguso in the "nero a macchie di smalto bianco" (black with white spots) style in the 1950s. Documented in "Archimede Seguso, Lace & Stone" by Leslie Pina, P. 162, 213. Both are in excellent condition, with the dark-headed one having a few minor scuffs consistent with its age. This is a really pretty crystal clear Cape Cod Oval Lipped serving or vegetable bowl made by Imperial Glass. Large peach-shaped bowl decorated on in- and outside with a bold Rinpa design of flowering red, white and blue camellias and leaves. Over a cream-colored coarse stoneware a thin layer of cream-colored slip has been applied, on top of which overglaze blue, black, green, red, white enamels and gold.

On the outside in a white rectangular reserve with black outlines the signature Kenzan. Japan, 1950s.

Very rare complete jacket back panel from the remote Miao Jiupang group from Jiahe County, Guizhou province (see last enlargement), with purple embroidered pattern between the spaces in the tin decoration. This style of decoration is unique to this group and very difficult to make, as every tiny bit of tin has to be individually cut and crimped. Recently acquired from a private Hong Kong collector, these are the first examples I have send of these I have seen in the past 10 years...

Striking, tall, double sommerso vase form by Fratelli Toso. Interior gather of soft gold toned transparent glass emerges in sommerso from a heavy green lip, cased in crystal. The form is blown into a rib mold with green canne applied at the high points of the ribs. This vase is a fine example of mid-century innovation of traditional techniques. Measuring 6.75" (top dimension) x 12" tall, the vase is in good condition, bears the J.I. CO. import label, unmarked.

A mid-century modern Italian art glass 9 x 7" bowl made by Fratelli Toso of Murano, Italy in the 1950s. This bowl has a light orange colour at the bottom with a clear glass upper region with controlled bubbles - also known as bullicante.
