This antique type of metal work was common in Nepal during the 1800's and into the early 1900's. The birds beak is carved from bone which is dyed to color. The "jewels" are colored glass i.e. enamel drops of orange, turquoise and dark brown. Beak to tail tip the bird measures 3.5 inches and stands 2 inches high. Very good condition with one "jewel" missing on the side.

This rare Japanese bronze incense burner is a mid or late Meiji period product. It depicts a crane resting on an upside down lotus leaf. A small snail is sitting on the leaf as well. The hollow body of the crane is used as burner; the wings can be removed to put incense inside. The open beak and small holes under the feathers will let the smoke out. This cast metal figure of a farm girl is an early 20th century (late Meiji) product. It depicts a bare footed farm girl carrying a large basket on her shoulder. It is 11 ¼” high and 4 1/8” in diameter at the base. The tip of the small stick she holds in her left hand is broken off. Aside from this, it is in very good condition.

Simple elegance envelops this wonderful late Meiji Period C.1910 bronze 'koro' crane incense burner. The piece has two parts; the top consisting of the crane's feathers and head, and the bottom which contains the ash. On the underside of the bottom in relief are the crane's legs tucked under. Large 19th Century Korean Sharkskin Jang Geom Sword with Silver Overlay. The scabbard is covered in sharkskin and lacquered black over that. The handle is very interesting and is covered in sharkskin underneath the heavy leather wrapping, and over the sharkskin there is a thick brass foil that is hammered to look like sharkskin. Large Korean Antique Lacquered Sword with Painted Dragons. 58.5 inches, 148.5 cm.

The early 20th century celluloid netsuke is 2 1/8” in diameter and 5/8” thick. This kind of netsuke is called “Kagamibuta.” It is shaped like a Manju (round doughnut) but with a metal disc serving as a lid to a shallow bowl. The pressed silver alloy disc has a dragon design. It is in excellent condition.

Vintage mini mantilla comb? Reminding one of Aguilar scroll work. A Taxco contemporary of Spratling or Castillo? Beautifully hand cut unmarked yet tested at least sterling, but could be higher due to its density.
