For sale here is a very rare vintage 1950s one of a kind handmade pewter and enamel over silver and gold modernist box by American artist/enamelist Hilda Kraus. A two piece box with the top fitting closely over the bottom section. The top section features the enamel over gold and silver artwork at top, and the bottom section is signed inside as shown. No doubt one of a kind as were all of her boxes, and a very beautiful design of an imaginary creature perhaps a fabulous 'flame sheep'? Hilda Krau...

Chinese silver gilt, enamel, and marble pagoda box, ca 1920. Marble base with guilloche enamel pilasters and applied imbricated gilt filigree leaves, and raised foot with inset cabochon stones on enameled ground. Top has patterned enamel ground and gilt eaves with cabochon amethyst rim, and pendant turquoise. Cover has same with gilt finial on lobed ring surmounting green enamel circles. Colorful and flamboyant exoticism. Marked “Silver”. Very good condition with nice age-related toning.

Modern 950 silver box inset with ancient Roman coins. Made by Bulgari in Italy in 1972. Straight sides, each with large gilt diaper inset with a follis (a type of bronze coin) from the reign of Emperor Maxentius, one of the last pagan emperors, who ruled from 306-312 AD.
