This Japanese okimono quality bronze turtle has a champleve decorated shell that opens to reveal a pipe stand. The turtle measures about 6 1/2" long x 3" wide x 2" tall and dates to the turn of the Century. The turtle has the makers' impressed seal underneath. REMAINS OF HANIWA

Large remains of the ornament part of ancient Japanese hollow unglazed terracotta figure from the Kofun period (3rd-7th century) so-called ‘Haniwa'. 20 x 14 x 4.5 cm (7.87 x 5.51 x 1.77in). Still left original paint as a rare piece. Bonded repair as seen. (Clearly from the back side but not from the front side.) Handmade removable wire hanging hook is attached.
