A large underglaze blue decorated vase, very finely painted in 18th Century style with bands of plantain leaves, key fret and ruyi above the Bajixiang (eight Buddhist emblems) amongst cloud scrolls. On the base is the six character seal mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) but this item was made later, in the 20th Century, probably during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition - a section of the body has been broken and was professionally repaired about 30 years ago (please view enlargements 7 and 8) and there are two drill holes to the base where we have had the vase tested. 38cm (15inches) high. A heavy, portable, antique metal bound wood cabinet fitted with drawers and a carrying handle made in Japan, circa 1800-1900 or possibly earlier. Condition: there is considerable age wear which includes minor losses to the edges and the metal mounts. 38cm (15inches) high;33cm (13inches) wide; 44cm(17.3inches) deep. Weight: 8kg (approx 17.5lb)

A large dish or plate painted in typical early 18th Century "Famille Rose" enamels and decorated with flowering peony shrubs and a chrysanthemum.This item was made in China, for export to Europe, during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735). Condition - extensively damaged - it has been broken into many pieces and has old rivetted ("stapled") and infilled repairs but could be a good study or display piece.31cm (12inches) diameter

A crisply moulded Art Deco style frosted glass bowl on three pear shaped feet and with metal bound rim. This item was probably made in the USA in the 1930s. Condition: excellent - no damages 10.3cm (4.1inches) diameter; 6cm (2.3inches) high.

A small thinly potted wine or tea cup delicately painted in shades of underglaze blue with traditional Chinese landscape scenes. The cup is bound with a metal (copper) rim, apparently made to cover a burst glaze bubble. On the base is a four character shop mark which reads "Shun Li Kun Ji". The makers mark was in use during the late Qing / early Republic period so we assume that this item was made during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition - very good - no damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 6.5cm (2.5inches) diameter.

清末民初 19/20世纪青花庭院人物酒杯
一件清华庭院人物酒杯，胎体轻薄。口沿有一圈金属圈镶边，应是为遮掩口沿的一处爆釉。底有青花四字款“顺利坤记”，此款为清末民初的厂店款，所以我们认为此件应为19世纪末20世纪初所做。

A rare 18th Century Liverpool porcelain teapot finely painted with Chinese style "Famille Rose" polychrome enamels. This item was made, circa 1760-1770, by one of two Liverpool makers - either Richard Chaffers & Co (1754-1765) or Phillip Christian (1765-1778) - who consecutively occupied the same factory on Shaws Brow. Condition: there is no cover and there are small chips to the tip of the spout (please view enlargements); otherwise excellent, with no further damages and no repairs or restoration 11cm (4.3inches) high;18cm (7.1inches) long. A large and heavy porcelain vase with thick Sang-de-boeuf ('Ox-blood') glaze. On the base is incised the six character reign mark of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). We have been unable to decide whether this item was made during his reign (in the late Qing dynasty) or later during the Republic period (1912-1949. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 44cm (17.3inches) high; weight 5kg (11 lbs).

A large and heavy carved hardwood mask, inset with Paua shell eyebrows, eyes and teeth, depicting tu-mata-uenga - the Maori god of war. Condition: very good - no damages, repairs or restoration. 48cm (18.9inches) high; 28cm (11inches) wide.

A finely moulded biscuit glazed Wang Binrong style porcelain vase decorated with the eight buddhist emblems and two Qianlong style dragons. The base has a moulded CHINA mark indicating that this item was made post 1891 for export during either the late Guangxu or early Republic period (circa 1895-1920). Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 21cm (8.25 inches) high.

清末民初 黄地素三彩堆贴海水龙纹六方瓶 1895-1920年间

A rare finely carved cylindrical bamboo incense box depicting Scholars amongst rocks and pine trees in a mountain landscape. This item was made in China in the late Qing period - the characters carved into the top read "Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi" which translates as "Made in the Guangxu reign Qing dynasty" (1875-1908). Condition - one 2cm age related crack at the top - otherwise excellent with no damages or losses and no repairs or restoration. 22.7cm (8.8inches) high.

清晚期 “高士赏游”竹雕香筒

Rare gold coloured powder compact and lipstick holder with polychrome Persian style decoration in its original box bearing a pre-decimal 23/6 (twenty three shillings & six pence) price sticker. These items were made by the prolific English powder compact makers - Stratton. Condition; excellent. A rare carved Sepik River Mask decorated with mud embedded cowrie shells and human hair. This item is 'old' by Papua New Guinea standards having been made pre 1970. Condition: there are losses to the applied decoration (some having been re-glued) and one of the boar's tusks is missing from the nose. 42cm (16.5inches) long. A Chinese porcelain vase profusely decorated with famille rose enamels. This item was made for export during the second half of the 19th century, possibly during the reign of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874). There is a shallow ground under rim chip (please view enlargement 7) and there is wear to the gilding on the stylized gilded chilong dragons around the neck; no cracks and no restoration. 15cm (5.9inches) high.

清晚期 粉彩镏金人物外销小瓶
盘口，颈部两条镏金螭龙。为19世纪下半叶的外销瓷，可能作于清同治年间。
品相：口沿下有一处浅磕，螭龙部分的镀金有磨损。无冲，无修复。

A green "Celadon" glazed dish or shallow bowl with flat bracketed rim. The centre is decorated with a moulded peony flower; surrounding this the thick green glaze is incised with stylized lotus scrolls. This item was made in the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province circa 1400-1500 during the first half of the Ming dynasty. For a very similar example please compare exhibit 16:66, page 489 - "Ming Ceramics in the British Museum", Jessica Harrison Hall. Condition - excellent - there is the usual surface wear to the interior but there are no damages and no restoration. 25cm (9.8 inches) diameter.

明代 龙泉窑青釉印花菱口盘 约1400 - 1500
一件青釉菱口盘或浅口碗。中央印花为牡丹，四周刻有缠枝莲花，为厚重青釉所覆盖。作于浙江龙泉窑，约为明代上半期(1400 - 1500)。类似的器型，请见《大英博物馆明代陶瓷》一书(英文，"Ming Ceramics in the British Museum", Jessica Harrison Hall)第489页第16:66展品。

A pair of 17th/18th Century style underglaze blue painted vases decorated with flowering branches of prunus blossom. The bases carry the four character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor but these items were made later, probably for export, during the late Qing or early Republic period, circa 1880-1920. Condition: one vase is in excellent condition, with no damages and no repairs or restoration; the other has a 0.7cm under rim chip (please view our 4th picture) and it has a re-glued 10cm section on the shoulder (please view pictures 3, 5 & 6). 29.8cm (11.7inches) high. 一对17/18世纪装饰风格的青花梅纹瓶。底有“康熙年制”青花四字楷书款，但此件稍晚，应为清末民初（1880-1920年间）的外销瓷。

A rare and finely carved hardwood figure group depicting the reclining Buddai with three small boys together with its original wood stand. This item was made in China in the 18th century during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795). Condition: generally very good but the tip of the Buddai's left foot is missing and the boy on the far right has been broken and re-glued (with a 2mm section of his fore arm missing) and there is a small chip to the robe covering the Buddai's right leg; no further damages and no replacements or restoration. 9cm (3.5inches) high; 20cm (8inches) high. An early 20th Century ostrich feather ladies fan with twenty faux tortoiseshell (plastic) sticks. This item was made in the first half of the 20th Century, probably circa 1920-1940. Condition: excellent, probably unused - some of the sticks still have their original tissue paper wraps. 38cm (15inches) across when extended.

A larger than average Anglo-Irish Rummer (ale glass) with "Panel & Flute" cut glass "Barrel" shape bowl and "Bladed" knop. This item was made in colonial British ruled Ireland circa 1850. Condition: excellent - no damages. 10.3cm 94.5inches) high; 8.4cm ( 3.25inches) diameter.

A late 19th or early 20th Century, possibly Ekoi, carved wood stool made in Cameroon, West Africa. Condition: good - minor losses and wear and an age related crack to the top but no repairs or restoration. 42cm (16.25inches) high; 30cm (11.75inches) diameter.

A rare ovoid vase on high flaring foot painted in shades of underglaze blue and made in China for export to Europe during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Condition: there is "fritting" (production glaze loss) to the base (please view enlargements) and there are very minor glaze imperfections; there are no cracks and there has been no restoration. 14.5cm (5.7inches) high.

A painted lacquer panel decorated with carved bone, ivory and "composition" figures depicting a farmer and a boy in a mountain landscape. This item was made in Japan, for export, during the Meiji period (1868-1911) Condition: very good - minor losses to the boy's fishing net and to some of the white paint; no restoration and no further losses. 45.2cm (17.9inches) high; 30cm (11.9inches) wide. A Ruskin pottery vase by William Howson Taylor typically copying a Chinese Song dynasty shape. It has a purplish pink lustre "souffle" glaze and on the base is the impressed date 1931. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 11cm (4.3 inches) high.

An early 20th Century Zisha ("purple clay") teapot with famille rose enamelled decoration depicting the "Three Friends of Winter" - prunus (plumb) blossom, pine tree and bamboo - and also a single bat. This item was made in Yixing, Zhejiang province, China during the Republic period (1911-1949). The maker's or shop seal mark inside the cover reads "Rong Ji"; the elaborate seal mark on the base reads "Fu Kang Ying Kou". Ying Kou is a town in Liao Ning province, north east China. Condition: very good - there are no damages other than a minute chip to the cover (please view enlargement 7) . There has been no restoration. 16.5cm (6.5inches) long; 9cm (3.5inches) high. 一件20世纪初期宜兴紫砂加彩“岁寒三友”茶壶。做于中国民国时期。壶盖内有”荣记“楷书厂店款，底有”福康“”营口“字样。
品相：很好。壶盖口沿有一处极小的磕口（见图），除此之外，无其他损伤。无修复。

A small metel bound six drawer black lacquered cabinet finely painted in gold lacquer . Three drawers are decorated with a branch of flowering prunus blossom and the large drawer and door are each painted with a single duck amongst reeds and iris. Condition: very good - there is some age wear to the decoraration on the top, sides and back but the gold lacquer painting on the front is in excellent condition. No repairs replacements or losses. 23cm (9inches) high; 21cm (8.25inches) wide; 10.5cm (4.1inches) deep.

A rare finely potted and attractively painted bowl depicting a stylized peach tree bearing seven peaches. This item was made by Tessa Fuchs (1936-2012). Condition: Excellent - no damages and no restoration. 16cm (6.3inches ) diameter; 7.5cm (3inches) high

A very finely painted Imari porcelain bowl, decorated on the outside with underglaze blue and over glaze iron red and with a central kinrande style panel of gilt floral scrolling. The interior is painted in polychrome enamels and is decorated with the "Three Friends of Winter" - Bamboo, Prunus (plum) Blossom and Pine Tree and with a Crane and a mythological Turtle to the centre. On the base is an iron red Fuku (good luck) mark. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century, probably during the Meiji period (1868-1912) Condition: there is an old 7cm hairline clealy visble on the inside; no further damages and no restoration. 8.3cm (3.25inches) high; 18.5cm (7.3inches) diameter. Weight: 700gm (24oz).

19世纪日本伊万里风格瓷碗
一件绘制精美的日本伊瓦里瓷碗，外部边缘部分饰有釉下蓝彩和釉上矾红花纹，中间主体部分为“金襴手“风格的描金缠枝花卉。内部彩绘“岁寒三友”，中央部分为“龟鹤齐龄”图案。
底部为方形矾红“福”字款。
作于19世纪日本，应为明治时期。
品相：内部有一处7厘米长的老冲，无其他损伤或修复。
高8.3厘米，直径18.5厘米，重700克。

A rare, finely cast, pear shaped bronze vase coated with copper oxide ("malachite") encrustation. This item was made in Korea in the 12th or 13th Century during the Koryo dynasty (AD 936-1392). Condition: unusually, very good - there is a 2mm hole in the foot (possibly drilled at the time of making for a strengthening rivet)- please view enlargement 7 - and there are a number of shallow scarcely visible bumps, the largest with associated surface abrasion. There are no splits or cracks and there has been no restoration. 32cm (12.5inches) high; 17.5cm (6.8inches) wide Weight: 1.24kg (2lb 12oz).

A hand-painted moulded earthenware (religious subject) wall plaque with "majolica" glaze, made in the style of the 15th century Italian sculptor and ceramicist Lucia della Robbia. This item was made in Italy during the 19th Century and bears an old shop sticker and an under glaze blue signature on the back. Condition: Very minor glaze loss to the nose of one angel and to the caps of both - otherwise in extremelly good condition with nochips cracks or restoration. 36.4cm (14.3inches) wide; 22.8cm (9inches) high; 2.4cm (1inch) deep.

A gilt bronze Libation Cup decorated on the outside with auspicious symbols: Cranes, Bamboo,Prunus blossom and Lingzhi fungus and with some of the Buddhist Bajixiang ("eight precious emblems"). This item was made in China in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and is from the collection of a British Architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai until 1931 when he migrated to the UK. Condition: very good - no damages, repairs or losses - but there is some copper oxidation and surface wear, consistent with age, including loss of much of the original gilding. 9.5cm (3.75inches) long: 3.4cm (1.3jnches) high. Weight: approx 100grams (4oz. Please note: this cup is from the same collection as stock #714, #716, #727 & #813 in our catalogue.

明 八吉祥纹镏金执耳铜杯
镏金执耳铜杯，外饰八吉祥纹。作于明代。
此件为一位已故英国建筑师的藏品。此人生于中国，旅居上海多年，直到1931年他才又回到英国。
品相：很好。无损伤或缺失。表面有绿色铜锈斑及使用痕迹，大部分镏金已经磨失。

A rare and finely carved 18th Century Chinese "honey yellow" soapstone Luohan, probably Damo (Bodhidarma). On the back is carved "made by Shang Jun". Condition - very good. This item was originally set with semi-precious stones but, with the exception of one white stone on the collar behind the neck, all are now missing; there are natural "flaws" intrinsic to the stone which pre-date the carving. There have been no repairs and there has been no restoration. 9cm (3.5ins) high. 一件精美稀有的18世纪黄色寿山石雕罗汉像，或为达摩。石雕背面有“尚均作”字样。尚均又名周彬，为清代寿山石雕刻家。
品相：很好。罗汉衣领部分曾多处嵌有宝石，现在仅存有颈后的一粒；作者根据石料的特点因势而雕，石料本身有些许瑕疵，而根据花纹样式可见这些瑕疵在雕刻前就已存在，但无缺损，无修补。高9厘米。

A European shape porcelain tea caddy painted in underglaze blue depicting houses and pavillions in a river landscape. This item was made in Jingdezhen (southern China) for export to Europe, circa 1760-1780, during the reign of the Qianlong emperor. For a similar example please see John Ayers "The Chinese Porcelain Collection of Marie Vergottis", page 76. Condition: there is an old 3cm hairline on the shoulder and a minute chip to the one corner of the same shoulder (please view enlargements 6 & 7); no further damages and no restoration. 11cm (4.3inches) high; 9cm (3.5inches) wide; 4.5cm (1.75inches) deep.

A thickly potted Arita porcelain vase finely decorated with polychrome enamels depicting three Cranes amongst flowering Peony shrubs. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 24.5cm (9.5inches) high.

A white porcelain "Blanc-de-Chine" Buddhist Lion incense stick holder in similar style to the larger Guardian Lions which are frequently to be found at the entrances to Buddhist temples. These were probably originally made for domestic home altars and were among the first items to be exported to Europe from China as decorative objects. This item was made in the kilns of Dehua, Fujian Province, South China ,circa 1640-1660, during the middle of the 17th Century. For a very similar example please see catalogue # 90 in "Blanc de Chine - Porcelain from Dehua a catalogue of the Hickley Collection, Singapore" by Rose Kerr & John Ayers. Condition: there are cracks on two sides of the sqare base, one with an old re-glued triangular section; no damages or losses to the lion itself and no restoration. 16.5cm (6.5inches) high.

A large bright, hand painted, matt glazed Art Deco vase made in the Plateelba Zuid-Holland (PZH) factory, Gouda, in the Netherlands. This item carries the date mark for 1932. Condition: Excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration. 30cm (12inches) high; 16cm (6.3inches) diameter.

A baluster shaped vase painted in exceptionally vibrant shades of under glaze cobalt blue depicting stylized peony flowers and flying insects within shaped panels. There is an artemesia leaf mark within a double ring on the base. This item was made in China during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Condition: there is no cover and there is a Y-shaped hairline on the neck which forks 1cm from the rim and does not extend to the body (please view enlargements 6 & 7); no further damages and no restoration. 23.5cm (9.2 inches) high.

A balluster shaped vase and cover painted with "famille rose" enamels depicting a lady holding a fan with two boys in a garden setting. On the base is painted the iron red four character mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) but this item was made later, in the early 20th Century, during either the closing years of the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908) or during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition: there are minor losses to the enamels but no chips or cracks and no repairs or restoration. 25cm (9.9inches) high.

A very rare African style "Crucifixion" form bronze sculpture by post-war Liverpool Artist Arthur Dooley (1929-1994) possibly entitled 'Einstein E = MC2', made circa 1968-1969. We are not aware of any other bronzes in this form by the Artist. A rare flesh pink glazed earthenware Art Nouveau style vase painted with Narcissus flowers in green, white and yellow enamels. This item was made, circa 1895, by the Riessner Stellmacher and Kessler "Amphora" factory in the Bohemian village of Trnovany. An "ogee" shaped porcelain bowl decorated with polychrome 'famille rose' enamels depicting two pheasants amongst flowering peony and pomegranate branches and below a band of alternating lotus flowers and the eight Buddhist emblems, the Bajixiang. The seal mark to the base reads "Zhong Hua Min Guo" (Republic of China), dating it to the period 1911-1949. A rare carved hardwood plaque depicting a heavily tattooed Maori figure with top-knot and holding a Mere (traditional short club); the eyes are inset with Paua (abalone) shells. This item was acquired with the large mask (item #201 in our catalogue) and is signed with the same initials. A rare pair of Rambervillers Ceramique stoneware vases with characteristic thick metallic lustre glaze and mounted on fitted gilt bronze stands. These items were probably made shorly after the establishment of the Rambervillers pottery, circa 1905-1910, and bear the incised signature of its founder Alphonse Cytere. Condition: excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration. 26cm (10.25 inches) high.

A rare original pair of clear plastic cased Yellow coloured ankle boots with clear moulded plastic heels, each with an impressed Mary Quant 'Daisy' motif capable of creating a trail of daisy footprints in wet sand. This design was introduced in 1967 and is typical of the innovative use of new materials in the cutting edge British fashions of the 1960s. For a similar pair in this style please view the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) and also a pair in this colour in the collection of the Museum of London. We bought these boots in 1976 as part of a large clearance of 1960s clothing from an S&U Stores depot in Wednesbury (outside Birmingham). A hand crafted silver comport, with bracketed rim, very finely decorated with traditional Burmese rural village scenes. This item was made in Burma (Myanmar) in the 19th Century under the rule of Queen Victoria and the British Empire. . A small, possibly unique, hand painted pitch pine Arts and Crafts style plaque . It is painted in 19th Century 'Romantic' style depicting a red sun framed with turquoise fruiting pomegranate branches and containing an intense, passionate poem or 'prayer'to the sun. This item was probably created in the last quarter of the 19th Century, circa 1875-1900. Condition: very good - there is wear to the gold painted highlighting and lettering; no further damages or losses and no restoration.. 16cm (6.3 inches) wide; 15.8cm (6.2 inches) high..

A finely painted and gilded "soft-paste" porcelain breakfast size Moustache Cup (right-handed) dedicated to a John P. Small in 1882, possibly a presentation piece. Condition: there are two old 1cm hairlines to the rim: no further damages and no restoration. 8cm (3.1 inches) high; 9cm (3.5 inches) diameter.

A rare late Ming Dynasty thickly potted jar decorated in underglaze blue with a key-fret pattern around the neck; on the shoulder a Kraak style diaper pattern encloses four circular panels, each containing a fruiting peach branch; above the foot are stylized breaking waves; the large central area is painted on each side with nine boys, at leisure, in a garden setting. "Hundred Boys" jars with very similar decoration are to be found dating to the Jiajing reign (1522-1566) but this jar was made later, probably for export, circa 1610-1625 during the reign of either the Wanli or the Tianqi emperor.
Condition - there is fritting (production glaze loss) to the rim and there are chips to the foot rim; there are two cracks to the rim which are probably firing (production) cracks and there are various cracks and glaze imperfections to the body but there are no repairs and there has been no restoration.

A commemorative plaque carved with oak from the barque (three masted sailing ship) the Mary Moore which operated as a tea clipper until the end of the 19th Century. The Mary Moore was built by Stephen & Sons (Glasgow) in 1868 and was registered in Maryport, Cumberland, North West England. In 1887 she was re-fitted and her hull was clad with metal. It was presumably at this time that the plaque was crafted. Condition: it has split in two, possibly in the 19th century and is held togethet with an old staple repairs. 33cm (13 inches) diameter.

A very rare Lalique glass "le Heure Bleue" Eau de Cologne bottle produced by Guerlain, Paris, circa 1914. Condition: excellent - no damages and with some of its original 'perfume'. 16.5cm (6.5 inches) high.

A wheel thrown transfer printed and hand painted double-handled "Loving" Chamber Pot made as a novelty wedding gift "Marrige Present", circa 1840, in either Sunderland or Staffordshire. Condition : there is a re-glued old break to one handle; and there is a curved crack to the rim on the underside which is less shorter on the upper side and does not reach the rim (please view enlargements 6 & 7); no further damages and no restoration. 21.5cm (8.5 inches) diameter; 13cm (5.2 inches) high. A 'bronze' censer (copper zinc alloy with iron impurities) with a six character Ming dynasty Xuande reign mark (1426-1435) to the base but this item was made later, probably during the late Qing dynasty (circa 1890-1910). condition: very good - no damages,losses or repairs. 9cm (3.5 inches)across; 6.3cm (2.5 inches)high. Weight: 260 grams (9 oz).

AA carved soapstone figure depicting a reclining Scholar; holding a fan in his right hand. This item was possibly made as an object for the Scholar's table and was made in China in the Qing dynasty, probably during the second half of the 19th Century (circa 1850-1900). Condition: a 2.5cm area appear to have been chipped away (in front of the fan and below his right knee)- please view enlargements 5, 6 & 7; and there are small spots of red paint in places. 6.3cm (2.5 inches) high; 7.6cm (3 inches) long.

A rare mixed material Art Deco necklace made in the 1930s or 1940s. Condition: excellent. 46cm (18 inches) long

A large heavy bottle vase depicting two confronting five clawed dragons amongst clouds and flames and above breaking waves. The base carries the six character seal mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795)but possibly made later during the 19th Century. It arrived in the UK before 1910 and is from an old West Country estate. Condition - the neck has been reduced and polished. There are no chips or cracks and there has been no restoration but there are surface scratches. Height 23cm (9 inches); 24cm (9.5 inches) wide. Weight 2.6 kg (5.73lb).

An unusually large "Ivory" coloured moulded Bakelite (Urea Formaldehyde) wall plaque designed by William McMillan RA. These plaques were manufactured by De la Rue Plastics and were presented by the War Office to local Savings Committees in appreciation of their success in "Salute the Soldier Week" in 1944. Some are still to be found in public buidigs throughout the U.K.. For a similar commemmorative wall plaque please view cat. no. EPH 4622 in the collection of the Imperial War Museum, London.
