Collectors of Staffordshire rarities will want to consider this example of John Milton, originally paired with the rare William Shakespeare figure.

The large molded figure attired in breeches, stockings, waist coat, and cape, standing with left arm draped over a book topped column with scroll beneath, and holding an open book in right hand, the whole on an oval gilt lined base...

Although Adderley is often credited by sellers as the maker of all Blue Chelsea series of table wares, the truth is that it was produced by many makers. This coffee pot is unmarked but clearly a fine Staffordshire example.

Our coffee pot sits on a hexagonal foot whose shaping continues in the body of the pot. It is sparsely decorated in the much beloved Blue Chelsea Sprig motif on a cream body...

A mulberry transfer English Staffordshire plate in the Athens pattern by William Adams & Sons made c. 1850. The inking is crisp and sharp, even on the backside as evidenced by the clear registry mark. The shape has 14 edges. Adams was one of the longest lived potters in England, operating as late as the 1990s.

Condition is Excellent.

This antique Chinese wood carving in rosewood depcits a mother and her cub with crisp and realistic detail.

Condition is excellent with dating to mid 19th C.

A fine Tiffany Favrile toothpick holder in iridescent gold and amethyst hues, dimpled sides. The underside is marked T 2365 and L. C. T. Early 20th C.

A marvelous pair of Dresden or Old Paris porcelain candlesticks with carefully painted cherubs holding to each nozzle while upholding while perched on stumps. The winged characters are draped with modesty scarves which swirl around the sticks. The quatrefoil bases are embellished with gold and encrusted with pink flowers.

The slightly brassy gilding cause me to date these beautiful candlesticks as early as 1880 since they are unmarked, to as late as 1910...

A lovely pair of Chinese sancai scheme enameled parrots perched upon an openwork stump. These birds are variously said to be roof tile ornaments or incense burners, but agree that the former is correct. They are Chinese export wares which were made in the 19th century to early 20th century.

Condition is very good to excellent with some very minor glaze flaking at the base...

This fine antique Baccarat bottle with its optic swirl device was created in the Rubina style which features and red to clear coloration. The jar has a weight worthy of its pedigree, and dates to early 20th century. The hollow stopper is marked with the same number as the base of the bottle, confirming that the two are a match.

Condition is excellent though the glass may have manufacturing imperfections.

A beautiful mahogany shaped knife box made of solid sides and fitted with slotted board to hold knives. The cyma and creased shaped front supports a non-working brass lock escutcheon and opening handle. The corners are molded. The cover is decorated with a star inside, and attached with brass hinges. The base of the box is also molded. Over all, the design and construction are sumptuous.

This vase is a masterpiece of Japanese Kutani artistry whose detailed enameling makes it a piece worth owning. The traditional elements of birds have highly articulated details, several with spread wings in flight, while others are flocked on the ground in front of brilliantly blooming pink flowers punctuated with delicate blue flowers. Behind all of this wonderous foreground naturalism are hills and lakes...

This magnificent and striking tureen is made of cloisonne having a slightly mustard yellow ground and beautifully accented with green diaper around the mouth of the bowl. The body is decorated with traditional Chinese emblems of good luck, and auspicious symbols such as the bat decorated with speckled blue. The blue dragon scaled handle atop the lid is embellished with brass buttons...

Case: 7.125" x 3.125” Brass and beveled glass carriage clock in the Boite Riche design with a shaped carrying handle above the flat pediment with the glazed aperture to view the platform escapement (not shown in photos). The rectangular lacquered brass case has gilt brass repousse work in narrow frieze above and below the beveled glass panels as well as around the base in a broader band. The case sits on brass turned feet and has a door at the back for access to the movement compartment...

This monumental Japanese porcelain charger is painted in blue and white depicting buildings on stilts overlooking mountains, waters, and trees among a beautiful waterfall, situated at the banks of a calm body of water with a boat in the distance.

The scenery is surrounded with scrolls in a band upon which lay leaves and flowers. The uniquely rendered waves add special interest.

The back of the charger has what may be seen as scrolling vine and leaf decoration...

This vase stands out with its beautiful cranberry color with rich jeweled honey gilding accented with white scrollwork and blue swags. The sinuous form enhances the overall elegance of its Art Nouveau inspired sensibilities.

Unmarked but clearly Bohemian in origin. We date this class to c. 1910 or earlier.

Condition is excellent with some very minor losses to the gilding

A very warm and appealing Chinese porcelain blue and white jar with swirling leaf and vine decoration similar to those produced during the Kangxi reign. This example dates to about 1880, late in the Qing dynasty.

The cobalt is fine quality and the design will bring pleasant moments of contemplation.

The foot has old felt pads, and a somewhat ill-fitting lid (not shown)...

These Old Paris vases are a visual treat, brimming with optimism and the charms of 19th century simplicities.

The pink ground of the body is sharply contrasted with the classic black foot with gold banding. Each vase has a complementary hand painted reserve of courting lovebirds framed in rich gilding...

This wonderful pair of porcelain Chinese prunus jars combines the famous cracked ice motif with "snowing" prunus blossoms which surround 2 reserves featuring perched birds in trees. Each tree is flanked with bats, an auspicious Chinese emblem.

The inspiration for this high quality design goes back to the Kangxi period, but these vases are Republic period of very fine quality...

You would be forgiven if you thought that this vase was made by Tiffany since its maker, Alton Manufacturing, hired away several Tiffany glass makers to start its production of competing wares in 1907, the only year the company produced glass.

This example of the Trevaise branding, analagous to favrile, has a flaring bulbous form with mauve ground and freely flowing and lingering tendrils with leaves attached, punctuated with white flowering blossoms...
