A watercolor on paper of a fruit seller’s stall or shop with a display of many different fruits while the merchant weighs fruit for two children, a woman turns away with figs in her basket and a young man in the shadows of the awning looks out, perhaps at the young woman with the figs. A large gold lustre and blue on a cream ground Spanish first half of the 16th century charger, probably Valencia, Manises. Molded with a dome in the center and leaves around the rim with a hole for hanging pierced in the rim before firing. 16 ¾ inches (42.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: Broken and restuck with some fairly crude filling of a couple of lost bits. One serious rim chip and numerous glaze and minor chips on the edge. Some wear to the gold lustre.

An arresting colored and beautifully quilted cotton and some sort crape or crepe Amish quilt typical of Lancaster County Pennsylvania with the initials “DE” and the date 1916 embroidered in one corner of the red cotton back. A large oil on canvas by Henry Charles Lee (American, 1864-1930) titled on the stretcher, “Winter Landscape” and signed lower left “Henry C. Lee.” He lived in Cornwall New York and in France, where he died. The stretcher had an old label for a French artist supplies dealer Lucien LeFevre-Foinet with the number 7350.

This print was part of the three volume folio printed between 1845 and 1848 of the Viviparous Quadruped of North America. Andrew Thomas Schwartz (American, 1867-1942) oil on canvas of a hilly landscape with the morning mist rising off the more distant hills. A few evergreens, probably cedars, sit in the field that appears to be tan with autumn. The only sign of habitation is a low stone wall. Alfred Hair (American, 1941-1970) was an early Florida Highwaymen painter. This large painting depicts two leaning palm trees just above a beach with two high tide lines of debris, curling waves and seagulls all under a sunny but partially cloudy sky. Signed, “A. Hair” lower left. The painting is 24 ¼ x 36 ¼ inches. The apparently original frame is 29 ½ x 41 ½ inches. Painted on panel (Upson board).

Condition: no chips cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor staining and some tiny areas of paint loss.

Albumen photograph of two Bedouin musicians seated in front of a backdrop with their string instruments. Numbered 613 and titled “Joueurs de violon Bedouins” in white in the negative and signed, “Bonfils.” The image is 8 ¾ x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm) mounted on card 11 x 13 ½ inches (28 x 34 ½ cm).

Condition; photo in good condition, though the contrast could be a little stronger. Mount discolored, some foxing and soiled along some edges.

Albumen of three large columns and a couple of men in front of a large forum (?) with Mount Vesuvius in the distance mounted on grey stock. Excellent tones and sharp image. 7 38 inches tall and 9 ¼ inches wide (18.5 x 23.5 cm). Sheet 18 by 22 inches (46 x 56 cm).

Condition; excellent with minor surface scuffing to the image. Card with some spots, rough edges and rounded corners, but overall clean.

Pair of Gien late 19th century transfer blue decorated dinner plates.

Pair of plates with a slightly scalloped body decorated with blue transfer printed outer border of small four petal flowers enclosing a wide border of scrolling flowers and in the center of the plate the outer border repeated around a sprig of similar flowers. Heavy pottery with printed mongram, impressed triangle and date letters J and K for 1888 and 1889. 10 ¼ inch (26 cm.) diameter.

From the set of lithographs, Paris dans sa Splenour, published in 1861, this one is titled, “TOUR St. JAQUES – LA BOUCHERIE ET RUE DE RIVOLIE.” The printer and lithographer are shown in details of the lower left and right corners. The image without printing is 9 1/4 by 14 1/8 inches (23.5 x 36 cm), the page 12 ¾ by 18 ½ inches (32.5 x 47 cm).

Condition: some staining, roughness around the margins and some rubbing of the surface. Matted and backed with acid free matboard.

A Dutch delft blue and white tile painted on the diagonal showing a tulip in the center with parts of fruits around it as it grows out of ground that would form a star with three other tiles of the same pattern. 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) square. A little less than ½ inch (1 cm) wide. Tapered sides. Wire hanger attached.

Condition: damaged along the upper left edge, part of an old repair and part not repaired. Firing flaw on the right. Small losses on other edges.

A Dutch delft tile from between 1625 and 1650 showing a snake’s head flower in the center enclosed in an oval of three blue lines. The single blossom is yellow and brown. The green leaves on a blue stem grow out of a yellow bulb on the ground. The oval with fleur-de-lis on the sides that correspond with the tile edges that are also decorated in blue with scroll work and vegetation (?). 5 inches (12.5 cm) square and slightly less than ½ inch (slightly more than 1 cm) thick.
