A group of five small pottery figures, four of people and one of a very smush faced lion. All painted in what look like both overglaze and underglaze colors. This type of figure was two part molded and produced in quantity. The tallest is 5 inches tall. These figures date to the first quarter of the 19th century.

Condition: All have some chips and the man with his head leaning on one hand has had the base repaired.

It includes a monogram dominated by the letter "R." The center of the plate is decorated with a hand painted rose under a hovering insect.

A molded roughly round stoneware small tureen with attached under tray, elaborate lid with finial and simple ladle. All transfer printed with blue floral sprays enhanced with overglaze enamels. The spoon with an additional transfer of water and a plant in the bowl. The lid and tureen with gilt highlights especially on the rams head cornucopia finial. The edge of the lid gadrooned, the handles with leaf decoration and the base with more gadrooning and small flat handles.

A Sevres salad bowl with lobed and slightly ruffled edge in the “feuille de choux” pattern decorated with sprigs of flowers in the bowl and on the outside with the raised pattern outlined in blue and gilt. The interlaced “L”s enclose the letter “F” for the date 1758. The heart in overglaze blue is the painter’s mark, Antoine-Louis Fontelliau. The inside of the foot rim has the hole from firing. The bowl is approx. 2 (5 cm) inches tall and 8 ¾ (22 cm) inches diameter.

A large cotton pieced log cabin quilt that is slightly asymmetrical with nine rows to the height as in the picture and eight rows of squares wide all surrounded by a red border. The radiating dark and light bands (barn raising) from the center are not actually centered in the quilt, but start in the lower center as per the pictures. A porcelain (hard paste) baluster form coffee pot decorated with a small bouquet of flowers and a few sprigs on one side and a few sprigs on the other with reddish purple ribbon with flowers around the top of the pot and the outside of the lid. Also on the pot a double band with entwined roses. The lid with a vented knop, which is a feature of silver form New Hall teapots. Hand colored lithograph titled, “THE BATTERY, NEW YORK/BY MOONLIGHT.” N. Currier lower left, address lower right. Promenade under the leafy trees with the full moon lighting the harbor with sailing vessels. Kennedy Galleries label taken from the earlier back board, now on the new backing. Sight size 9 x 12 ½ inches, over all with frame, 16 1/8 x 19 1/8 inches.

Condition: Minor tears in the margins and some slight discoloration, but otherwise good condition.

A double Irish chain quilt with printed cotton fabrics of red and green chains against a background of black spots on white cotton. The front is turned over to the back to make the edge. The quilting is simple diagonals.

Condition; excellent, never washed.

Good colors and pleasing design makes this an attractive quilt.

An Emil Puirforcat French first standard (.950) silver round box with a gold washed interior. The surface of the exterior covered with engine turning and engraved wreaths punctuated with blossoms. 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm) diameter and 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall. Weight approx. 154 grams.

A pieced cotton quilt in a pattern called, “Goose on the pond” probably from the mid-West and made in the late 19th century. The pattern is made up of pattern printed blue, orange and white fabrics. The same orange fabric is used throughout, but the blue and white are made up of different prints. The quilting is diagonal lines. Cotton seeds in the stuffing visible through the back. Front edge turned to the back. All hand stitched. 72 inches square.

Condition: nice and clean.

A design of a green cross with all sides equal enclosed in a rectangle on one point with red steps and green saw teeth in rows and columns of five against a background of light and dark blue checked fabric. Geometric quilting of waves around the outside and rectangular quilting in the other light squares. Great printed cotton backing.

Condition: May never have been washed as the blue chalk lines for the quilting are still visible. There is a stain near the border.

Good design and colors....

An interesting color printed engraving of George Washington published in London in 1798 by Robert Cribb, Holborn, engraved by William Nutter after a painting by Gilbert Stuart purported to belong to J.S. DeFranca of Devonshire Place. Devonshire Place is a part of London, but a quick search did not turn up a J.S. DeFranca and it is possible that this print is a copy of another print of Washington, based on the Lansdowne portrait by Gilbert Stuart. It is printed on laid paper and the fact that it ...

A large (15 5/8 inch diameter) tile of birds and flowers enclosed within a blue border inside black lines. The tile has the usual thick transparent crackled glaze, muted colors and off-white tone. 15 5/8 inches (38 cm) diameter.

Condition: no cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some very small chips on the edge, the biggest is under the glaze so it must have happened before firing. Strong supports for hanging on a wall.

Nice flowing design as the stem for the flowers grows in a counter clock...

A large double Irish chain pieced quilt with the chain consisting of red squares enclosing yellow ones on a white ground. The back is turned over the top to form the edge. The red border quilted with swags encloses a white border with a running feather wreath. Inside are red saw teeth and then the chains across the field. Cotton seeds visible through the back side. The white squares enclosed by the chain are quilted with a number of different circular motifs. 77 by 90 inches.

A hand thrown and painted hard paste porcelain punch bowl decorated on the outside with four bunches of roses and four groups of buds of roses around the outside under a wavy orange border on a tall foot. The inside edge is a band of black and orange hexagons in a Chinese manner under a gilt rim. In the bottom of the bowl is another bunch of roses.
