A nice stout wine jug with two handles at the wide shoulders. The two handles have deliberate cuts at the tops, probably to tie rope for securing the stopper. The brownish black glaze covers the jar to about 2.5 cm from the bottom.

Period: Song (12th/13th Century)

Size: Height = 19 cm. (7.5 inches)

Condition: A couple of tiny glaze chips at the mouth's rim. The glaze is not degraded and still has a nice gloss.

An opium scale made of two carved bamboo parts that pivot open at the rounded end and close together with a leather strap. Inside this violin-shaped instrument are the original items - metal scale tray, counterweight and a measuring rod made of a long single piece of wood. (See photos) The interior is carved so that all 3 items fit snugly inside. On outside of the scale the Chinese character "shou" made of metal...

Unusual three tiered red lacquered old box with a design of a tree with mother of pearl inlay and images which looks like clouds or stylized bats for good luck. Size: H 25cm X 25cm X 23cm. Condition: Some chipping from age.

A rare beautiful ancient large glass bead necklace from Southeast Asia. Dates back to over 2000 years old. This is a complete necklace found as is. Size: Length 64cm - 25 inches

A Rare Han Dynasty large oval glass bead in shades of very pale blue to dark sky blue. Most of the front side of the bead has developed an intriguing beige patina. There are bi-toned (dark green & light blue) curvey line designs which are imbedded in the glass surface. The light blue line is now iridescent with age. The bead has two holes in the center for stringing.

A well made Tang dragon handle vase .The vase has two well made dragon handles with a gargoyle type face on the body of the vase with an unusual glaze. Size: H.30cm. W. 17cm.

A gentle-faced natural amber figure of Quanyin (the Goddess of Mercy) seated holding an ambrosia bottle (kalasa)in her right hand. There is a hole on one side for stringing. Size: H. 4.2cm. W. 2.5cm. Condition: No repairs.

Very rare lacquered original Han ear cup with a surface decorated in red and black lacquer in scrolling patterns and abstract motifs painted on the ears. Size: L. 20cm. W. 15.5cm. H. 6cm. Condition: No repairs. the outside bottom of the cup is missing. See last photos. It is interesting to see that the cup is hollow inside and not one solid piece.

A very unique jade carving of a bird's head with a tapered body. The black coloring is the result of a long burial period. Under certain lighting conditions the jade has a translucent appearance. I tried to capture some of it in the photos. Provenance: From Beijing many years ago from an old Chinese collector. Size: L. 6.4cm. W. 4cm. Condition: No cracks or repairs.

Tang authentic pottery plate with a sancai-glazed inner and outer rim. The alternating and flowing green and ochre/brown glazes give beauty to the simple form of the plate. Under magnification, the glaze shows very fine crackle and the edge of the glaze is iridescent.

Condition: Good. No cracks or breaks. Has stacking spur marks from when it was fired. Has a small chip on the rim.

A rare miniature figure of Avalokitesvara (Buddha) (God of Compassion) on a plinth. The head is surrounded by a halo. The figure was originally gilded and traces of the gold still remain. The features have been worn from age. Has a nice patina. Period: Han. 206BC - 220AD Size: Height = 7.5 cm

A nicely shaped plate with floral design with bat and peach motif painted on the underside for good luck. Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nyonya ware. Nyonya wares were mainly reserved for festive occasions and special functions. Size: 19.5 x 13.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal wear.

A rare and beautiful original Vung Tau vase with five painted panels of flowers. Condition: One tiny chip on the rim. See photo. Shiny clear glaze gone and some minor staining from under salt water for many centuries. Size:H.11.5cm. W.4.6cm.

A beautiful replica of the famous Bronze Running Horse or the Galloping Horse. The original horse was made durning the Han Dynasty. The sculpture is balanced on one hoof giving the illusion of flight. Size: Length 23cm -9 inches. Hight 19cm - 7.4 inches. Width 4cm - 1.5 inches. Weight 1.3 Kilos - 2.86 pounds.

A very rare necklace of 78 glass beads (green, blue-green, opaque white & translucent). Five (5) of the largest beads have a dark caramel colored glass streaked/looped design. Period: Han Dynasty Size: Length = 20 inches (51 cm.) Condition: The glass beads have iridescence (seen under magnification) and some calcification due to long period of burial. Can be cleaned.

A very rare sancai original, three color, glazed Tang duck cup probably used for drinking rice wine. Three colors with some blue cobalt. The expressions are very real and natural. A very rare figure of a Tang lady seated on a barrel stool in a long robe and large hairdo gently holding a dog. Original Tang figures look beautiful at all angles. Made of a fine red colored clay, it was originally painted but the slip and color have worn away revealing only the clay underneath.

Condition: The original head had broken off when found but has been re-attached.

A nicely carved jade cicada of the Hongshan Culture.The cicada has a bulky square body with stylized wings a ridged forehead and large well rounded eyes. Size: L.4.8cm, W. 2.0cm

A authentic Tang pottery figure of a court lady standing quietly erect with an upswept hairdo. Her hair, face and neck are left unglazed (except for some small impromptu splashes of amber glaze). Her elegant long robe is colored with an amber glaze.Comes with a certificate from a Chinese Government auction house.

A very rare portrait of the highest ranking official in the Emperor's court. This is based on the rank badge of the crane and the red hat. The painting is very intricate with a lot of gold work. The sleeves are painted with the heads of the Imperial Dragon and in the center there is a painting of the elusive flying pearl. The tips of the armrests and carved with the Linzhi mushroom...

A very rare extremely large storage jar from the Chinese Song period, 960 -1126 AD.These jars were used for storage for Chinese trading vessels. They were then traded off to Chieftains in Southeast Asia and were considered sacred items. Most jars were from the Ming to the middle Qing Dynasties. This one is very rare as it dates back to the Song Dynasty. This vase was found in Borneo, Malaysia. It is unusual to find this size jar intact from that period. Size: H. 76 cm. W. 57 cm...

An authentic large Tang tomb Attendant wearing a typical attendant's outfit with remains of the original pigments. Large pottery items were made in three parts, the head, upper body and lower body.This item was excavated from a tomb in 1998 with many other items. See last photo. Age: Tang Dynasty 618 - 907 AD. A long-necked original bronze vase with a rounded body. The top of the slender neck has a ring midway and swells out at the mouth in the shape of a garlic bulb, giving the vase its special name. It has a nice aging patina. It can be cleaned but I wouldn't recommend it.

A very rare bronze seal from the First Emperor period with the "ying-yang" impression. Yin is often symbolized by water or earth, while yang is symbolized by fire or wind. Age: 221 -206 BC. Size:L. 1.9cm W. 1cm. H. 1.2cm. Condition: No repairs. Incrustation from long burial. Can be cleaned.

A natural amber pendant with two bats, one on each side. The bats represent longevity and happiness. The bat and happiness sound is in the Chinese language is similar - both pronounced Fu. Size: L. 3cm. W. 2cm. Condition: No repairs, cracks or chips.

Unusual and rare pottery figure from the Han Dynasty of a soldier in uniform sitting on a stool with one leg folded under him. There are still some remains of a white slip. Size: H.9.5cm. Condition. No repairs.

A nice lacquer screen mirror used by Scholars in their work tables. The mirror is surrounded by the usual key fret design while the base is carved with the auspicious melon, peony and peach, representing longevity and prosperity. The mirror looks like it is the original mirror. Size: H. 62.5cm. W. at the base, 41.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Normal wear and some age cracks.

A very rare and unusual large Chinese scroll painting done in the Japanese style of a bird in a cage with a bamboo tree and netting. Some gold leaf work on the leaves. A very rare set of cowrie shell money from the neolithic period in China. Twenty two shells in all strung together as a necklace as they were originally.The Chinese character for money originated from the cowrie shell. Age: 2000 to 1500 BC. A Han bird of an attractive translucent green jade with dark green 'peppery' streaked inclusions. Its squarish stylized shape is both simple and pleasing to the eye. It has an hole for stringing as a pendant..

Condition: Very good. There's a little roughness at the edge of one wing from age but it is not a break.

A Rare Green glazed pair of Foo Lions joss stick holders from the Ming Dynasty. Joss sticks are incense on sticks and burned in religious ceremonies usually placed along side of Buddha. Size: H. 13.2cm. Condition: No repairs. Some minor small chips due to age.

A very large and rare unique lacquer panel screen with a variety of stone carvings of Quanyin and Her Disciples. The carved gold leaf panels most likely depict the life of the owner. The back of the panel has a beautiful painting of bamboo and birds. See Last photo. The panel is made into six parts that are interlocked together. Age. Mid. 19th Century. Size: 310 cm. X 215 cm.(10 Ft.X 7 Ft.) Condition: Very good for it's age.

This is the most desirable of all the Han dogs. Not only has it been beautiful executed but has one of the nicest faces I have ever seen on a Han dog,it looks great from every angle. Size: H.26.5cm. W. 23.3cm. Condition: Tip of left ear has been professionally repaired. Some minor chips around the base. Overall in very good condition.

A rare authentic detailed Han granary with three bear like legs in a rich deep green glaze. Size: H. 30 cm. Roof diameter 23 cm. Condition: No repairs. Some small kiln chips.

A very large authentic Tang tomb guardian wearing a typical warrior's uniform standing on an evil earth creature with remains of the original pigments. The guardian was there to protect the tomb from these evil creatures. The item was found with its parts separated.Large statues like this were made in several parts. See last photo. An extremely rare matching set of a drum table and five matching stools made of Jichi wood or "Chicken Wing Wood" with a very large one piece burl wood top on the table and stools with a bamboo design. Bamboo carved furniture from very expensive wood is very rare as bamboo is a very inexpensive wood and to carve that bamboo design in the expensive wood is a sign of reverse snobbery reserved for the very rich at that time...

A rare Chinese large jar.These jars were originally used for storage of food for trading ships. They were eventually traded to the natives in Southeast Asia, mainly Borneo, and were highly prized. The center of the vase has a relief of two dragon with white claws. Size: H. 70 cm. W.46 cm. Condition: Very good with no repairs.

A very large jade disc carved with a hole in the center. Both sides of this central hole are lipped which is very rare in "bi's." Compared with flat bi's, lipped bi's require a lot more carving and are much more difficult to make. The bi is beautiful with its complex colors and patterns. The colors range from cream to greys, ochres, greens and blues.Period: Neolithic ( 3rd millennium B.C.)
