A lovely pairing of the bodhisattva diety Kwan Yin riding a Chinese lion or fu dog. The Kwan Yin is set in a leisurely pose with her medicine bottle. Intricate geometric patterns with motifs of clouds and dragons are decorated throughout the statue. Age: mid-20th century Size: length 16" width 7.5" height 25.5"

A finely carved Chinese agate in the form of a popular motif often seen in Tibet which is the windhorse. The use of Tibetan motifs in Chinese arts began during the Ming dynasty with patronage of the Tibetan high lamas and continued onwards into the Qing Dynasty. The windhorse is carrying a pecha or sutra text, a signature motif often found on windhorses. The stylized ribbons and the waves are done in the Chinese style. Antique Tibetan bronze vajra dorje. The handle has three heads topped with a horse. The vajra connects the hilt to the head of Makara where a three edged blade is attached. It was made in Tibet in the 19th/20th century, obtained in Kathmandu in the 1960s. It measures 12" long.

Antique stone carving of Ganesha, the deity, deva, associated with the removal of obstacles. It was carved in the 19th century, acquired in Kathmandu in the 1960s. It measures 2.25" tall, 1"3/8" deep by 2" wide at base.

An unmounted Tibetan thangka of the Buddha Dipakar. The Buddha appeared prior to the historical Buddha, Shakyamuni. Legends of the Buddha's past lives tell of how in a past life when Shakyamuni was a human, he met Dipankar and offered his hair to cover the path the Buddha Dipankar was walking and Dipankar Buddha predicted that the man would become the next Buddha. A refined image of the deity Amitayus, known as the Buddha of infinite light in many pureland texts including the Sukhavativyuha Sutra. The central Amitayus image is surrounded by nearly a hundred or so other Amitayus images reflecting a concept found in Vajrayana and Mahayana texts of how a Buddha or Bodhisattva can be found in many locations simultaneously. Chinese porcelain dish with garden scene. Three figures sit around a table eating fruit while a fourth figure stands, gazing at something. The party is seated under hanging lamps. The border of the bowl is intricately decorated with chrysanthemums, peonies, and other flowers. The back of the dish has a red stamp and three bands of flowers. It measures 13" diameter. Republic period mid 20th century.

Antique Chinese stone seal with carving of horse and small animal together. The front bears a six character inscription. It measures 5.5" tall base 2" by 2".

Antique Japanese Gyosho Bako, Edo Period, mid 19th century. It has two moving locks on the exterior. The interior has one large drawer and seven smaller drawers. It measures 13" wide 18" deep 31.5" tall.

A simple yet refined bamboo sago or a scoop used to gather tea leaves from the tea jar. The top contains a carving of scholar rocks set among small bamboo and a small tree with slight foliage. The inscription on the top right, (Japanese: Gakusoka, Chinese: Xuesu jia) refers to a person who upholds or revives knowledge or education. A refined and elegant statue of Amida Buddha along with Samantabhadra and Avalokitesvara also known as either the Amida Triad or the Three Sages of the Pureland. The triad became popular during the Kamakura Period around the 12th- 13th centuries and a rich visual culture surrounding the triad emerged. Large antique Chinese cabinet in two stacking sections, made of a beautiful honey color hardwood, cabinet doors on front are lacquered black and have stone inlaid scenes of children playing, the sides have lacquer scenes of mountains. The interior of the bottom section has a shelf with two small drawers. Republic Period. Size: 96" (8ft) high x 47" wide x 21 1/2" deep.

An antique Chinese long table carved with motif of scrolling clouds and a type of fungus knowns as Lingzhi, an auspicious motif and an actual fungus used in Chinese medicine. The table overall has an appearance possibly done in the taste of a literati scholar. Age: 20th century Size: length 65.5" width 26.5" height 36"

Japanese antique tetsubin (kettle for heating water for tea), made of cast iron, dramatic and very three dimensional design of a dragon in swirling waves, highly raised with wonderful detail, bronze lid with lotus pod. A splendid and unusually large tetsubin decorated with geometric patterns with peonies and butterflies set within a frame. This piece is a collaboration of two major artists. The body has a seal by the kama-shi or tea kettle maker, Okuni Jurou, and the lid is signed by Kinryudo. Okuni Jurou, along with his father Okuni Toubei were famous for their skill and artistry during the Meiji and Taisho Periods. Condition is original and excellent. Size: Diameter 9.5" Height 14"

Japanese silk kimono decorated with a beautiful scene of flowers including irises, peonies, and chrysanthemums with a little stream in color with gold details all on a very light cream color ground, Taisho Period. Size: 58" high x 51" wide.

A refined Korean Buncheong celadon vase. Buncheong refers to the technique of incising a repeating pattern on the clay surface and white clay is filled in creating a strong contrast of greys and celadon colors with the white lines. The vase is decorated with cranes, an auspicious motif in East Asian culture. Age: Koryo Dynasty 13th century Size: Diameter 6" Height 10.5"

Wonderful Japanese antique two panel byobu screen painting in ink and mineral colors on silk, Nihonga School, depicting a scene of a group of seven crows and a single magpie near a waterfall and hot springs possibly Onsen Baths, beautifully painted churning water and falls, signed and with hanga of artist Aizu Katsumi: born Fukushima Prefecture.
