On the exterior, petal lappets enclose hanging scrolls. Unglazed base with thin iron brown wash. Antique Chinese porcelain snuff bottle with cylindrical form, decorated with a scene of a water dragon in waves. Intricate and fine line details and expressive movement in the dragon and in the watery background. The dragon is painted in iron-red glaze and the waves in blue. The tall, white glazed neck is topped with a small jade lid. The long spoon is made of bone.

This Japanese walrus tusk carving of a young maiden is a late-19th century or early 20th century product. It is 7 ¼” high (8 7/8” high with wood base) and 2 ¾” wide. It depicts a young maiden holding a long necked vase in one hand and a long stemmed flower in her other hand. There is a tall stand beside her with an incense burner. The statue is permanently mounted on the carved wood base. It is in great condition.

This is the Tsutsugaki curtain used in the Edo period. This was made in the Kyushu region. It is made of fine cotton that is hand spun. This is a person expressing a wooden raft that flows through the river in the season when the cherry blossoms fall. This pattern is a pattern called flower raft. This is a very idyllic depiction of the boatman's expression. The design of the boatman on the raft to go down the river where the cherry blossoms are falling is very elegant and beautiful...

Antique Japanese small netsuke (inro toggle) carved in the form of a rural house under a large pine tree. The 2 story house, which is visible from three sides has multiple windows and a tiny figure standing in one. Behind his back a nimbus with seven discs, representing the seven stars of the Big Dipper. To the left of the rock base the head of a snake pops out. Antique, Southeast Asian, celadon crackle glazed ceramic large figural jar on a circular socle base. The jar has a baluster body, splayed foot, and a short, everted neck. The shoulder of the jar is decorated with five guardian figures, each mounted on an elephant. The figures are finely hand-sculpted in high relief and wear top spiky headdresses, necklaces, and bracelets. They have their hands folded in a prayer gesture.

CONDITION: It is in good condition, with no cracks or repairs, except...

Porcelain or stoneware vase covered with a thick, deep black glaze that is stained with brown streaks in places same as Tenmoku style. The ceramic is very heavy, thick and solid. The glaze is deep and thick, in some places it flows in very thick drops.The rim of the neck has no glaze which makes me think that it must have been lightly ground, if so it should not be missing much as the vase is very elegant and well proportioned. I think that it's Ming périod perhaps earlier. Height about 40cm. ...

This is a very fine pair of Japanese satsuma vases that stand just 4 1/4 inches tall. Attractive form, enamel colors and very fine details. They look like they have spent most of their lives stored in the box. One has the original sticker and both are signed. The signature looks a bit like the Kozan mark but we are not sure. Some of the larger flowers remind us of work seen on Bizan and Yabu pieces.
