An export blue and white plate decorated with a bird and floral patterns. Kangxi period (1662-1722). Marked with an Artemisia leaf. Diameter 27 cm. The silver handle was added in 1854 by the wellknown Dutch silversmith J.M. van Kempen in Utrecht(later in Voorschoten). In the 19th century it was very fashionable in The Netherlands to add silver mounts, lids and handles to antique porcelain objects. Silvermarks: walking lion (silver grade 835), minerva head, maker's mark and year letter U for 1854...

Description:

A Yaozhou covered jar was in fantastic look.
It was well carved with floral motifs on the surface.
In characteristically yellowish green tint of the glaze, the ware was revealed with the also characteristic beige body clay.
Obvious incursions were happened to the glaze in foggy look.
One manufacturing defect was found at the foot ring.
Otherwise, it was in perfect condition without any restorations,.

Small mask representing the face of a "lakhe", an celestial entity which protects humans and households against evil spirits. Wood, with beautiful dark patina. Himalayan Region, 18th century. Height: 5 1/4" (13,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old restoration at the back of the right eye, erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition. A rare piece in this size.

This rare Chinese bamboo and jade opium pipe is a mid 19th century product. It is composed of a metal alloy fitting decorated with small pieces of jade and tourmaline as the “saddle”. The two ends of the bamboo are decorated with jadeite. It is 23” long and 1” in diameter. Aside from an age crack and some scratches on the bamboo, it is in good condition.

A pair of Burmese wooden disciples, with calm facial expression, lacquered and gilded with inlay of colorful glass pieces on the borders of the robes, one of them sitting in adoration posture with two hands attached to each other indicating respectful manner. Traces of original lacquer and gilding remain in excellent condition.

A very finely carved oval-shaped white jade falconer's plaque depicting a five-clawed dragon amongst scrolling foliage. These are five extremely rare copper skull bells/pendants that were found in an elite tomb at Monte Alban, Oaxaca in 1936. Each bell in about 1/2". They date to 1000-1500AD. Copper was mined largely from Guerrero. No cleaning or restoration, exactly as found. A must have for any pre-Columbian metallurgy collection.

This Olmec maskette is from Veracruz, Mexico. It dates to 1200-900BC. It measures 2" wide by 1 1/4" high by 1/2" deep. It depicts the classic were-jaguar with forehead cleft, almond shaped eyes, broad nose, mouth showing gums and teeth and a scrolled design that encircles the sides of the face. The top of the forehead is biconically drilled for suspension in a design that is reminiscent of the Costa Rican agate bat wing pendants from the same time period...

With very fine gold thread embroidery on both sides and the original strings with glass beads. China, 19th century. Measurements: H.8 cm, W.11,5 cm. Excellent condition.

Chinese agate girdle clasp, also called "sui" in Chinese. I am uncertain about the date of it, but do believe that it should be from Qing Dynasty or earlier. It is in good condition with russet streaks. 2-3/8" X 1-1/8" X 1/2".

A small twin-handled bronze censer, finely casted and with good patina. The base carries a rare two character seal script mark which reads "Cang Ju". It was probably made in the 17th Century, during the late Ming or early Qing dynasty. This item is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came to the UK with him in 1931. Condition - excellent - no damages. 10cm (4 inches) across; 5.5cm (2.5 inches) high...

A rare large pictorial beaded Iroquois animal whimsey, circa 1890. Depicting what looks like a mythological deer or elk figure. A great folk art piece. One of the largest and most spectacular whimseys known. With a great sculptural relief, and beaded in white, blue, green, copper, light tan, numerous beaded suspensions with tubular beads, sequins. Excellent Condition. 11 1/8" wide; 12 1/2" tall; 15 3/8" tall (w/suspensions).

Antique Japanese large and deeply carved ranma depicting three sages (from left to right): Le-tieguai (with the iron crutch) , Zheng si yuan (with the tiger) and Gama Sennin (with the frog). There is much of the original paint still intact. Wonderfully carved with great detail and expression. Most likely from a Shinto temple. Edo Period (18th century). Size: 27" high x 87" long x 3" deep. (very heavy!)

These rare early 19th century ceramic bowls are 2 ½” high and 6” in diameter. They depict four mythical sea creatures resting on rocks surrounded by ocean waves. The background and inside are turquoise blue. There are red “Dao Guang” (1821~1850) marks on the bottoms. Some gold edging has rubbed off from the ribbed rims. Aside from this, they are in excellent condition.

This Shou Shan stone carving of Zhang Guo (or Kuo) Lao is a mid 19th century product. It depicts a seated Zhang Guo Lao. In his left hand, he is carrying his emblem Yu Gu (or Ku) or fish drum which is a tube-shaped bamboo drum with two iron rods. His right hand is resting on his knee. There is a straw hat hanging on his back. The statue is 4 ½” high, 3 ¼” wide (from the bottom) and 2” thick. The carved wood base is not included...

A Hopi polychrome wood Kachina doll depicting Hólolo, circa 1915-1920. Description from Colton, "Case mask painted green or brown, with pop eyes, snout, cheeks painted with half moons or small circles. Douglas fir or juniper ruff. Kilt, sash, fox skin, and green moccasins. Body painted red with yellow shoulders, forearms and lower legs. Carriers rattle and bow and arrows. Appears in kivas in spring or in Mixed Kachina Dance." Good Condition consistent with age, some paint loss. 14" tall, 5 5/8"...

A Korean Very Fine White Glazed Triple Gourd-Shape Bottle-19th C. Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th Century A well portioned, well potted, and milky warm white glazed overall surfaces including its bottom with some sand bears on the foot rim, its mouth rim is in flat cut. It’s in very fine condition without any damages at all. It measures 19.5cm x 11cm (7 5/8” x 4 3/8”).
