This is an original elaborately handcarved softwood corble of a majestic Chinese Fu-Dog or lion dog guardian. Original joints on its top and side that would have kept it into place. There is so much detail in this piece, from the tendrils of the lions' tail draping above its head. Looking above like the rays of the sun. Delicately hollowed and carved xiù qiú ball underneath its front paws. The detail continues to smaller lionlike creature riding upon its back...

Budai is the Chinese "Père Noël" ,the Japanese calls him Hoteï. He carries toys in a big bag and distributes them to children who adore him and are sometimes represented at his side. We offer from our private exhibition a Tibeto-Chinese large and heavy gilt bronze four faced Amitayus Buddha from the late Qing Dynasty ( 1644 - 1912 ).

The Amitayus ( Bodhisattva of Longevity ) is seated on double-lotus throne in dhyanasana and with both hands in dhyanamudra.

The statue is 17,1 inches high and 7,5kg heavy!

From our Chinese Monochrome Collection, a fine carved jade image of Guanyin, late 19th- early 20th century, depicting the deity with a wonderful serene expression in a variation of Royal Ease mudra while sitting upon a rockwork base, and cradling a ruyi sceptre in her right arm. The jade is of pale olive tone with russet colored highlights and is rather substantial in heft, weighing almost 1.4 pounds.

Description: A lovely dog was carved vividly in a crouching way. Lying as is in sleeping, the dog's ribs were obvious by the carver's observation.The sandstone's quality was strong and the color was in grayish white and amid with black dots. An antique 18th century Chinese Bronze Buddha seated in the varda or granting of Boons mudra. 

This lovely Buddha is seated in the lotus or Padmasana position, with each foot placed on the opposite thigh. His robes cascade fluidly from his left shoulder.  His robe is draped to leave the right shoulder bare, and a portion of the garment that covers the left wrist falls behind the figure.

The lower hem of the robe comes all the way down so that the undercloth or skirt...

Up for sale from our private Buddha collection is this bronze gilt Guanyin with a well carved six-character Xuande Mark.

She is seated in rajalilasana with an expression of peace and serenity. The Guan Yin is wearing a tiara and loose robes falling over the shoulders with lots of images.

Please notice the rare throne with its face on the arm rest and the claws on the base of the throne. Very seldom and rare.

The sculpture is simple rustic, the details are little or not chiseled, however the gilding is of the best quality, very thick and tends to flake.Traces of pigment on hairs and eyes. Antique pair of Chinese Shi (fu-lions). Carved of wood and lacquered red. These traditional guardians were placed on either side of an important door to guard against dangerous spiritual elements and people. They are male (with his paw on a ball) and female (with a cub).

Age: early 20th century

Dimensions: 18 1/4: high x 18" wide x 14" deep. And 18 3/4" high x 19" wide x 15" deep.

This is a fantastic pottery tile from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) with a heavy relief of a musician. This tile is in excellent condition and shows no signs of repair or restoration. It measures roughly 24 cm square and is roughly 4 cm thick. It weighs an impressive 7 pounds. This is a spectacular specimen of ancient Asian artwork suitable for any museum or high end private collection.
