Buddha in very heavy cast bronze. Never been gilded. Very nice natural brown patina. Very well known model of the Kien-long period, which usually are gilded and marked with the reign and sometimes dated and which are always in embossed copper (see an example in my collection n°10). Wonderful 46 cm and 8,16 kg heavy Chinese bronze Guanyin Buddha from our Buddha collection, made in the 18th century.

The Guanyin (Kwan Yin) is wearing a long robe and is sitting with two hands hidden in the clothes, holding a reel. Very smooth and kind expression. Although the statue is hollow inside it is very heavy.

On her back marked the period of "Qian Long". A really very rare bronze collection, can't find from other places...

Antique bronze incense burner - censer in the form of Laozi riding a buffalo, 17th-18th century (Qing dynasty), China.

The bronze depicts the philosopher Lao Tzu on his famous journey away from civilization to find simplicity; he sits on the animal's back with his robes flowing around him.

A very finely cast statue of Bodhisattva Manjusri wearing diadem and formal attire, holding a book in his left hand, his right hand in argumentative posture. Manjusri is sitting cross-legged on an elevated lotus throne resting on the back of a stylized lion, itself standing on a rounded base. Bronze with dark-green patina. Traces of an original lacquering and gilding. China, early Ming Dynasty. Height: 6 1/4" (16 cm). Tiny part of diadem missing, otherwise very good condition.

An early Chinese Buddhist sculptural relic. Wood figure of "thousand armed" Avalokiteshvara. Originally with 18 arms, the figure retains only four arms. The surface, with remnants of lacquer and gilt, substantially distressed. Late Song or early Yuan dynasty. The base appears to be a tightly grained, dense and heavy hardwood with nice, undulating figure in the grain - likely zitan. Figure height (not including base), 8 5/8 inches.

The Taoist immortal Liu Hai is performing a handstand on his three-legged toad. Condition: leg of the animal and foot of Liu Hai with small loss, a crack. Dimension: 9.5 cm high.

This figure is with downcast eyes and slightly smiling serene expression flanked by long pendulous ears. It comes with an original wood stand. Chinese Song Dynasty Guanyin Wood Sculpture. 41.5 inches, 105 cm.

Charming Chinese acrobat in a handstand atop a natural rootwood base. The acrobat is hand carved out of boxwood. He wears shorts tied at the waist and a pair boots. His hair is tied back and he has a goatee. Very finely carved. It is from the Ching Dynasty, 19th century. It measures 27 tall, about 18" wide at the base. Excellent original condition.

Statue of Guanyu, the general of Liu Bei, which was transformed into the famous Guangong, the Taoist God of War. Guanyu is shown here in full military garb, with helmet and armor, sitting on an elevated throne. Votive box at the back, still closed. Wood, with remnants of superimposed painting, lacquering and gilding. China, 19th century. Height: 24.7 cm. Painting and lacquering partly flaked, otherwise very good condition.

Statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, standing on a rectangular base on which a chimera or a dog is carved in relief. Two votive boxes, their lids missing, at the back. Fine Antique Chinese 18th. century Qing-Period Bronze seated GuanYin on Lotus throne with buddhistic characters.

This lovely Guan Yin statue shows Guan Yin holding the bottle of life in one hand and a droplet of water in a form of a water ball in another hand. Her face is serene and peaceful.

The statue was cast in the style of the Liao dynasty Buddha images. Bronze, with fine age patina. Qing Dynasty, 18th century. Slight abrasion due to age, otherwise very good condition.

Description:
In abstract form, a pair of stone tiger weights of Han dynasty was preserved in original excavation condition.
Covered all over the surface with adhering earth coatings, the images of recumbent tigers were still revealed by the silhouettes.
Han-Bar-Dao, a typical carving skill of Han Dynasty was used on two of the pieces.
In simple and clear carving skill, the images of two tigers were vaguely and subtly rendered...

The frames are identically carved with Dragons, Phoenixes, Buddhist Lions, Bats and Sacred Pearls, evolving in the middle of clouds, flames and waves. The quality is exceptional, the details are complex, precise, meticulously carved and the cabinetwork finish is perfect. This high quality leads us to believe that these frames were made in southern China, for example in Canton, rather than in Vietnam...

Very aesthetic Chinese stone Buddha head, massiv and solid with no repairs. Great antique condition. Our family property since 1935. It can be visited in our private home in Germany or in our gallery in Luxembourg on appointment.

Beautifully carved soap stone figure of sage Fulushuo, he leans on an elaborately carved staff and hold the peach of longevity, on an intricately carved dark stone stand on which are carved a bat and a deer, also symbols of happiness and longevity, wonderful expression, stone of a lovely orange and green, Republic Period (circa 1910-1930). Total size: 20 3/4" high x 8" wide x 5 1/2" deep.

A beautiful rendering of a Lohan Monk, Ming Dynasty or slightly earlier, 13th.-15th. century AD.

An excarvated head carved in very hard and dense black stone, in the round with oversized ears and pronounced arched eyebrows and downcast eyes. The head superbly polished, still with traces of the ancient carving methods and a deeply encrusted or embedded earthern patina.

The head is mounted on a modern and very attractive black marple base.

A wood image depicting a Daoist Exorcist riding a horse, holding the Seal for the control of evil forces on his right hand and the bowl with purifying water on his left hand. He wears the typical long Tao robe and crown shape hat. On the back of statue, there is a covered niche for the storage of prayer rolls. Wood with colours with very good details. China, Late Qing Dynasty. H. 32,5 x L 19 x W 11cm. Good condition.

Probably Tibet. Miniature Buddha in cast bronze gilded with the mercury technique. Under the base curiously we can see a Vajra cast in relief. The sculpture is simple rustic, the details are little or not chiseled, however the gilding is of the best quality, very thick and tends to flake.Traces of pigment on hairs and eyes. The style of the base with elephant and Buddhist Lions in front and crosses at the back, makes me think of the 15th century style. No restaurations. Very nice patina real...

A Ming cast-iron figure of Vairocana, the Dharmakaya Buddha, the most important of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, the one from whom the other emanate from; his name means "luminous" or "embodiment of light”. He is sitting on a lotus throne, holding his hands in Abisheka Mudra (consecration gesture). On the back side there is a dedication: donated by the Li family. Ming Dynasty, 1368–1644. H. 27. Condition: Very good but with few casting mistakes on the back

An early decorative temple carving of a Taoist deity seated on a donkey, painted in white, black, red and gold, Late Ming-early Qing dynasty, c. 16th.-17th. century.

Condition: Nice very fine for the type and age, intact with much of it's pigments still preserved. Minor losses and completions.

Bronze, with encrusted dark green patina. China, late Yuan/early Ming dynasty. Height: 18.8 cm. Very good condition.

A Chinese coral figure of a standing maiden in an elaborate and floating robe holding a basket of flowers. Rendered with great competence and detail, it is a very attractive composition. The coral is of pinkish hue with occasional white spots. age; C. 1910. size: 17.5 cm high including the fixed wood stand. condition; very good, no restoration, no breaks. there are natural tubules to the back.

Deity probably Taoist in soapstone. The god is standing, brandishing the Ying and the Yang. It must refer to a specific character and a story or legend. The work is finely executed and the style of the carving is unusual, cartoonish. In addition, the artist allowed himself to cheat by abnormally moving the left ear too close to the eye so that, seen from the front, the face is balanced. Like the columns of Greek temples which are bent to compensate for the optical effect or like certain porches ...

A Chinese gilt wood statue of Skanda. Skanda, also known as Wei Tuo (Chinese: 韋馱), is a Mahayana bodhisattva regarded as a devoted guardian of Buddhist monasteries who guards the Buddhist teachings. DESCRIPTION: A large, carved wood figure of the Chinese deity Guanyin (also Quanyin, or Kwan-yin), seated on a throne with right leg folded and right hand extended in the abhaya mudra position, a gesture of reassurance, blessing and protection (or “do not fear”). Statue of a taoist dignitary, in formal attire, standing on an elevated hexagonal base on which a relief representing a reclining animal is carved. Two votive boxes at the back, both with missing lid. China, Ming Dynasty period. The statue is mounted on a stand. height (without stand): 31,5 cm. A few missing parts at the lower side of the base and at the back of the head, with no real damage to the general aspect of the statue, otherwise very good condition.

The handsome head of the Buddha, Very finely carved with serene expression. With slightly smiling mouth, downcast eyes, large arched eyebrows in relief, straight nose and pierced elongated earlobes. A very rare and finely cast bronze image of the Daoist goddess “The Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven” (chinese: Jiu Tian Xuan Nu). She is depicted standing on a stylised cloud and holds ritual implements in both hands, a sword in her right hand while the left hand holds a gourd. Remains of cold gilt. China, Ming, 16th century. H 22,5 cm. Condition: Very good, but sward blade broken off and of course with some loss to the cold gilt.
