This is a 17th century, coloured stone Buddha statue. It is curved out of a single piece of solid rock. The clothing on the body is maroon in colour and the boarder around the sleeve and neck is in black colour. The Buddha face, hand and feet are covered with traces of gold leaf gilding. The head is originally painted in blue colour but later painted with black paint. The head also has circle design on it all around...

A finely carved boxwood image of a standing Luohan (Arhat), one of Buddha’s disciples. The figure is shown turned slight to one side while holding a wish-fulfilling scepter (ruyi) in the crook of his right arm. The carving is coated in a deep, transparent reddish lacquer. Qing, 18th cent. H 18.5 cm. With fitted, old Japanese storage box. Condition: Excellent with only one minor age crack caused by the drying wood.

This large Buddha is approx. 250 years old and is carved of one piece of old DARK wood. It came from a well known antique dealer in Bejing, China...

Outstanding 18th. Century heavy casting of Buddha, both hands grasping flowers, eyes in serene expression, with incised robes extending towards a double-lotus base. It would appear that this piece may have at one point in time had a mandorla mounted to the backside.

An elegant and highly stylized zun-shaped lacquered bronze vase, either Chinese Late Ming Period (1600's) or Japanese Early Edo Period (1600's). A very rare and finely cast bronze image of the Daoist goddess “The Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven” (chinese: Jiu Tian Xuan Nu). Probably Tibet. Miniature Buddha in cast bronze gilded with the mercury technique. Under the base curiously we can see a Vajra cast in relief. The sculpture is simple rustic, the details are little or not chiseled, however the gilding is of the best quality, very thick and tends to flake.Traces of pigment on hairs and eyes. The style of the base with elephant and Buddhist Lions in front and crosses at the back, makes me think of the 15th century style. No restaurations. Very nice patina real...

A bronze figure depicting the City God, (Chinese: Cheng Huang). Cold gilding and rest of coulors. The City God is one of the important Gods of Daoism, he is a kind of guardian deity of the City, a heavenly magistrate responsible for the protection of the territory, the safety and prosperity of the locality. Temples dedicated to Chenghuang were built allover China and annual processions of the God were carried out. Ming Dynasty. H. 29 cm. Condition: Very good, just some wear to gilt.

The Stick and hand was cast seperately to the figure, and afterwards mounted as was costum during Ming Dynasty with the more difficult casting processes.
