A finely carved boxwood image of a standing Luohan (Arhat), one of Buddha’s disciples. The figure is shown turned slight to one side while holding a wish-fulfilling scepter (ruyi) in the crook of his right arm. The carving is coated in a deep, transparent reddish lacquer. Qing, 18th cent. H 18.5 cm. With fitted, old Japanese storage box. Condition: Excellent with only one minor age crack caused by the drying wood.

Outstanding 18th. Century heavy casting of Buddha, both hands grasping flowers, eyes in serene expression, with incised robes extending towards a double-lotus base. It would appear that this piece may have at one point in time had a mandorla mounted to the backside.

The handsome head of the Buddha, Very finely carved with serene expression. With slightly smiling mouth, downcast eyes, large arched eyebrows in relief, straight nose and pierced elongated earlobes. Probably Tibet. Miniature Buddha in cast bronze gilded with the mercury technique. Under the base curiously we can see a Vajra cast in relief. The sculpture is simple rustic, the details are little or not chiseled, however the gilding is of the best quality, very thick and tends to flake.Traces of pigment on hairs and eyes. The style of the base with elephant and Buddhist Lions in front and crosses at the back, makes me think of the 15th century style.

A bronze figure depicting the City God, (Chinese: Cheng Huang). Cold gilding and rest of coulors. The City God is one of the important Gods of Daoism, he is a kind of guardian deity of the City, a heavenly magistrate responsible for the protection of the territory, the safety and prosperity of the locality. Temples dedicated to Chenghuang were built allover China and annual processions of the God were carried out. Ming Dynasty. H. 29 cm. Condition: Very good, just some wear to gilt.
