Antique Japanese large cloisonne vase decorated with a blossoming white hydrangea. Detailed flower petals with pale blue gradated centers and large leaves are rendered with great naturalism and contrast dramatically with a very smooth rose/taupe background. A band just below the mouth of the vase is decorated with a tiny, subtle leaf motif. Silver wire used throughout.

This is a very fine small Japanese cloisonne vase done in the style of early Namikawa cloisonne pieces. This vase like Namikawa works has butterflies, high sheen mottled enamels and gilt wires. Even so we believe it was probably made by Honda. This heavy piece stands 4 3/4 inches and the condition is nearly mint.

This is a fine Japanese vase from the Meiji era with impeccable workmanship. The silver wire work and thick enamel are flawless much like a Namikawa Yasayuki piece. It is also has the weight of a Namikawa piece, but could have been created by Honda or Shibata. The high quality of this vase is more apparent when in hand. It is adorned with 30 butterflies. The vase stands 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

This is a large and extremely rare Japanese Cloisonne vase. Though unsigned this vase was clearly created by Ogasawara Shuzo. As the images show this is a fabulous example of Meiji Era art. The vase measures 15 1/4 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Condition is outstanding but there is a tiny short line, of about 3/8 inch near the base.

This is a rare cloisonne bowl from Gonda that features 16 wireless egrets. This bowl is stoutly made and is heavy. It measures 7 inches across and is 5 1/4" tall. The condition is very good with some expected wear. The bowl has 2 very minor, under the surface lines that can be seen in the last image.

This is a very fine unsigned Japanese cloisonne vase with a unique form. The enamel and wire work are exquisite. It is not signed but the quality is so good and so unique that the maker is Hayashi. Look at the last image of a signed 3 3/4 inch vase and compare them. Although this item could have been used as a sauce pot, it was probably intended for replenishing water for grinding ink on a calligrapher’s ink stone The interior and base are both enameled.

Good condition, no dents or losses however there is some characteristic pitting to the enamel.

This is a rare and very fine Japanese cloisonne jar covered with tiny butterflies. These butterflies are so small that probably 8 could fit on a little fingernail. It was likely created by Kumeno Teitaro. It stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is 3 5/8 inches wide. Condition is excellent.

This is a really fine piece of Japanese Golden Age cloisonne with a very pleasing form. This phoenix design and form are unique. We have only seen one other like this and it was the mate to this one that recently sold. Condition is excellent except for a superbly filled surface chip. The before and after images can be seen in the last images. The vase is large standing 12 inches tall.
