Size and Condition: The saucer is 5 inches in diameter, the teacup 2 7/8 inches across, 1 1/2 inches tall. Small inconsequential nick to footrim of teacup essentially perfect.

Here is one of the most important chawans of our collection: rounded wan shaped tea bowl with high foot of the bamboo node style in the typical O-Ido shape. The light, little coarse clay with enclosures is expertly thrown and full glazed - with the exception of the foot - with a transparent glaze of wood ash with some feldspar over a white engobe - in the style of Korean kohiki chawan (unglazed area on the outer wall is a typical feature found on many kohiki chawans)...

This celadon jade cup has two handles, a slightly pronounced rim, and is set on a raised foot. The body is carved with three lines of raised knobs along the sides, with two straight, vertical handles on opposite sides. The stone is of a very light translucent celadon tone with a whitish patch that has a reddish-brown outline near the foot. The base of one handle has an indented and polished area, and a carved line under the overhang of the handle...

Painted in a rich cobalt blue under the glaze with rapid brush strokes in a zenga-like manner, depicting a scholar in his studio. The literatus leans against his table on top of which is placed a brush pot and incense burner. Part of his garden is visible in the background and a six-character poem is seen penned on the upper-left...
