This carved hardwood cup is 5” high, 4 ½” wide, 3 3/4” thick (both measured from the top). It is an early 20th century product. It depicts three sages surrounded by a river scene. Two sages and their young servant are on a boat; one sage is standing on the river bank. A huge rock, an old pine tree and some unknown trees make the scene very peaceful. Aside from a few small crack lines due to the age of the wood, it is in great condition.

A medium sized Hopi Kachina doll carved by Wilson Tewaquaptewa circa 1930. Tewaquaptewa (1871-1960) was the last chief of Old Oraibi. He produced Kachina dolls which are a combination of many dolls and figments of his own imagination. He believed that you didn't carve actual Kachinas for the tourist market. His dolls are usually monochromatic in color (brown, ochre and white and black). His use of symbols, painted on the case mask, seems to be arbitrary. DIMENSIONS: 7" tall.

The Crow Mother is mother of the Hu Kachinas and appears in the Bean Dance. By some Hopis she is considered to be the mother of all the kachinas. Her Hopi name translated means "Man with Crow Wings Tied to."

A beautiful Japanese lacquer jubako, or tiered storage box, with nishiji background made from sprinkled gold flakes. Each side is decorated by maki-e lacquer imagery of shochikubai, meaning "three friends of winter", bamboo, plum, and pine with gold and silver leaves and flowers. The interior of each level is coated in bright red lacquer. The jubako comes with its own tomobako, or storage box, as well as a second lid.

Chinese Jade carving of a maiden representing "Yuenu", a historic figure famous for her ability at archery and how to use a sword. She came from the Chinese province of Zhejiang and is sometimes called the Maiden of the Southern Forrest. The jade is beautifully carved with her holding a sword in her left hand and a ruyi scepter in her right, cloths flowing in the wind.
