Seto Kuro Oribe (black oribe) kutsugata (shoe-shaped) chawan with a rounded brim, made in the late Edo Period around 1850. This rare type of tea bowl was made from light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay which contains some iron oxide and and a rich black glaze (made from ground up Kamagawa stones) which partially obscures the white designs on the side. This is Indigo dye cotton mojiri-ori asehajiki textile of the Meiji era. It is a stripe of impressive, beautiful indigo dyeing. It does not have a stain and damage. It is very good condition. size:65cm x 58cm (25.5" x 22.8")

Small octagonal hard porcelain vase. Decor enamelled with a landscape fenced with hedges of dry branches, there are a prunus, a pine and on the ground young bamboo shoots which would signify the symbolic presence of the "three friends", on the collar is represented a Ho-ho (phoenix) which in Japan symbolizes the Empress. Some details are gold. The style is kakiemon but this small vase is atypical. It is difficult to date and also to locate with precision...

This well worn pair of Woman's Lotus shoes for bound feet are from the later part of the Qing Dynasty about 1870-1880. The vamp fabric is red cotton with a matching floral embroidery pattern on each side. The delicate hand stitching detail clearly shows the pride taken by the owner/maker. The soles are short of the toe vamp which was done to give the wearer a more floating and sensual appearance when walking.

Chinese Eastern Zhou Cord-Impressed Pottery Jar (770 - 221 BC)

This fine pottery jar was made during the Eastern Zhou period (770 - 221 BC). It is made from a relatively highly-fired fine grey pottery. It has a round base that has been decorated with cord impressions that are particularly crisp. On opposing sides of the shoulder are small square-cut handles. The neck is slightly ridged for additional decoration and it has a flared mouth. 

Height 18.5 cm (7.25 inches)...

A set of Burmese amulets in lacquered wood and gilded with gold leaf.
It is believed that this type of statuette had special powers due to the paste made from sacred ashes and medicinal herbs, which was inserted into the hole in the base of the statuette and carried by healers.

Cotton cloth with beautiful katazome (stencil-resist dye) with mum motif, which is made of hand spun cotton and vegetable indigo and natural brown dye. In good condition, however colors fades a bit from washing. 19th century. W:35cm, L:168cm

An archaic style Chinese jade object in the style of Han burial Jade objects. Top contains a motif of mythical beasts and the center section is incised with scrolling vines with a circular hole carved out in the center.The clear line seen below the beasts is a plastic wire to attach the jade piece on the black felt panel.
