A wonderful Chinese wood elephant head architectural element. All sides are lacquered except for the back and top which are unfinished. This could be hung on the wall and used as a wall shelf to hold a small treasure. It is made of a heavy wood weighing 2 lbs and measuring 6" high, 4" widest, and 6" front to back. Date: mid 1800s.

Clearly made by an adoring grandmother, this antique Dong Minority hat is covered with a variety of ornate embroidery stitches including both wrapped thread and couching techniques. The hat is topped with silver half beads representing bubbles and a large top knot.. It is a bid dirty which would be expected in a childs hat of this age and use.

This extraordinarily rare Olmec necklace has 57 beads all made from Imperial green true jadeite. All are highly translucent except 4 small beads. It measures 30" when strung open from end to end. It has been restrung in modern times. I have never seen nor heard of pre-Columbian imperial jadeite of this quality. A Nezumi Shino covered box or jar. Probably a mukozuke (but for which we are not familiar with examples accompanied by a cover.) White slip inlaid into incised decoration under the warm, gray glaze - conspicuous on the cover but not so much in decoration on the sides of the box where contrast does not succeed as well. Quirky glass ring emulating agate. This piece came from China but possibly is a trade object. I acquired this in a lot of other ancient pieces. A conservative dating to this is Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and guarantees it to this period. There is one crack as well as some bubble burst pitting on the surface. He has an expression of rage, holding a sword in the right hand, the kensaku ( originally a trap for birds or small animals ) in the left hand ( Both are lost of these Fudos ).
