A Nezumi Shino covered box or jar. Probably a mukozuke (but for which we are not familiar with examples accompanied by a cover.) White slip inlaid into incised decoration under the warm, gray glaze - conspicuous on the cover but not so much in decoration on the sides of the box where contrast does not succeed as well. A pleasant "swipe" of white slip under the cover provides a bit of a "surprise"...

An antique okinawan incense container decorated with a lacquer and inlayed mother of pearl depicting a dragon appearing from clouds. Circa 19th Century. Mother-of-pearl inlay, which is known Raden in Japan was first introduced to Japan during Nara period (710-784). The technique was popularly used with lacquer for artworks such as instruments. It is in good condition with tiny loss of inlayed mother of pearl. The piece accompanied a poulownia wood store box...

A superb Chinese porcelain vase richly painted in a color hue that is seldom seen, with mauve blue and purple, moss green and saffron yellow with rich iron red accents. This large vase displays a whimsical scene of boys at play. Notice as one boy over reacts as a spider dangles from his hand held fan, a cat awaits for his chance to pounce his new found play toy, another little boy hides behind his mother in fear of the commotion...

Highly unusual phurba lavishly decorated, from top to bottom, with stylized lotus, four deities heads separated by a pitcher and a trident, geometric design, a "makara" head with three Shiva tridents on top and snakes at the tip of the blade. Wood, with nice dark-brown semi-glossy and partly encrusted patina. An iron loop holds a piece of old textile. Nepal, early 19th century. Height: 10 3/4" (27 cm). Polychrome pigments, gold, and sumi ink on wood.Dated Second year of Enki, year of the wooden bull (kinotoushi):1745, November (Shimotsuki). Board was donated by Omiya Souhachiro, who was living in the Kudara-cho district of Osaka City (near the vicinity of Shinsaibashi area). An ukiyo-e folding screen depicts a group of ladies preparing for Japanese Star festival called Tanabata festival, which takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year. As part of the custom, the wishes are to be hanged on a bamboo tree in the hope that they become true...

Quirky glass ring emulating agate. This piece came from China but possibly is a trade object. I acquired this in a lot of other ancient pieces. A conservative dating to this is Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and guarantees it to this period. There is one crack as well as some bubble burst pitting on the surface. Outer D: 2.8cm and inner D: 1.9cm.

This is an extremely rare Egyptian wood carving of the god Ptah-Sokar-Osiris with a plumed crown and ram horns. It dates to 664-525 BC. It measures 57.7 cm in height (22.7"), 23.3 cm at its widest and 10.2 cm at its greatest depth. The wood has 6 different pigments that have been painted onto the wood in intricate designs. These are two wooden miniature Fudos ( Cetaka ) who is the incarnate of Dainichi Nyorai, the highest ranking Buddha. It is said that he can change evil minds of demons and make them good. He has an expression of rage, holding a sword in the right hand, the kensaku ( originally a trap for birds or small animals ) in the left hand ( Both are lost of these Fudos ). Chinese white jade boulder beautifully carved with mountain scene, on one side are monks in a mountain pavilion with twisting pines, roof tops and stairways peep through swirling mist and rocky crags, on the reverse is a rural scene of a man riding a buffalo through more rocks and pines, from one tree hangs a string of coins. This is impressive kabuki Costume textile of the last part of Edo era.(1800-1867) It is beautiful silk of the dyer's saffron dyeing. A cloud and the applique of the Chinese phoenix which I write the kimono by hand and dyed are on. It has a few stains. However, it does not stand out. This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by the Samson studio in the late 19th century. The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/8 inches and the cup is 2 1/8 inches high. The set is made of fine translucent porcelain. It is elaborately hand decorated and gilded. There are colorful birds of paradise surrounded by greenery. Large and beautiful ironstone beer tankard or mug, with molded or sprigged decoration of hops – looking rather like blackberries - in blue and white on a drab coloured background. England, c 1820-30, in the Wedgwood jasperware style. Height "4¾/ 12 cm, diameter "5¼/ 13,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Chinese yixing purple clay large teapot. with mark at the base. Good conditions with small chipped at inside the lid and spout.15cm wide. 8cm high.

Pair of Qilin, a Chinese mythical beast sometimes associated with giraffes or Camelopard. Polychrome glaze on clay, with fine detailing. Bottom of the pair contains a seal reading: Qianlong Nianzhi which would be from the mid to late 18th century. However in reality the piece was made during the 19th century. Bronze covered hibachi by Soho Sunosuke. Bronze lid with image of Chinese lions and peonies surrounded with a karakusa or scroll vine pattern openwork border on the side. The body of the hibachi contain metalwork still lives of herons, mandarin ducks, quails, and pheasants. Bottom of the hibachi contains the signature of Soho Sunosuke. Signature reading: Soho.
