A ceremonial cylinder used by Senior Monks to send letters to each other. The animal in the panel is a "balu-gwin" Size: H. 33.5 cm. Base diameter: 5.8cm. Condition: Normal wear, no repairs.

This is a classic 19th century Chinese rose medallion vase, of baluster form with gilt fu-dog ring handles and painted with brightly colored alternating reserves of figures and flowers; condition: damage to one ring handle; measurement: 14 _ in.

Width from 6.2 to 6.5 Excellent condition, no chip, hairline, crack or restoration.

This slender expressive statue represents the right hand of the Buddhist female deity worshiped as Quanyin in China, White Lotus in the US, Tara in Tibet, and Kuan Eim in Thailand, etc. The hand retains much of the original paint remains and is mounted on its own display stand. The hand alone is 14 inches high and including the stand is approx 18 inches high.

Fine Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Meiping

This qingbai glazed meiping was made during the 13th - 14th century, the latter part of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or the Yuan Dynasty (1279 - 1368). It is quite heavily-potted and coated in a finely-crackled pale blueish-green Qingbai glaze.

Tall Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Jar   

This tall and impressive porcelain jar was made in the 13th - 14th century, toward the end of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Interestingly it has been made in several sections that have been luted together. It is coated in a finely-crackled greenish qingbai glaze (the colour on the cover is a little more blue than the jar). Various decorations have been moulded and applied to the surface...

Chinese yellow crackle-glazed pear-form porcelain vase with an everted rim and an underglaze blue double-ring at the base. Dates from the 18th century. 9 1/4"H. There are small scattered green glaze spots and interesting irregularities of the glaze application at the neck. Fine quality restorations have been made to the neck which are not visible to the eye. The vase was acquired from a Southern Arizona estate.

Description: A bronze brush rest in a shape of a stag resting under a tree and a bird perching on the branches with scholar rock's view. It is an elegant piece with traditional Chinese atmosphere. Chinese Western Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Groom Figure

This interesting pottery model of a groom was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a fairly high-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in white, red, pink and black pigments. The figure wears a long garment and a head covering. He stands with his left hand outstretched as if holding the reigns of a horse (see our last image for an illustration of this)...

A nice small qingpai funerary powder box in the shape of the lotus flower in three small pod. The flowers petals has dropped off showing the base of the flowers.

In good condition with the exception of some expected abrasion and manufacturing faults as shown in the photographs. Some rough edges and minute sand grits on the cover. No damage, crack, chip or any restoration.

This is the pinnacle of production for imperial artist Seifu Yohei III, a large Taihakuji porcelain vase with carved designs enclosed in the original signed wood box. Museum quality would be an understatement. Seifu III was known to have made few large works, so this is a very important piece, and Taihakuji was his most appreciated style. A fine antique Gilt bronze Buddha Thailand 19th century. Fine casting of the Buddha seated in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) Gilt bronze over lacquer most all original gilding remains in good condition. An oblong piece of golden brown amber with carvings in relief of two flying bats among clouds. Each bat has the tassled end of a rope in its mouth; on this rope are three coins. Bats and coins both represent good fortune. A translucent blue Chinese glass bead (Ming period)comes with the amber.

An intricate age darkened Keyaki (elm) carving of two dragons vying for dominance in a sea of clouds, glass eyes glowing softly in the rich red wood. Dating from the later 19th century, the carving is 49 inches (125 cm) long, 4 x 1-1/2 inches (9.5 x 3.5 cm). It is overall in fine condition with some inevitable abrasions due to time. The tennons on both ends indicate this was made to be inserted between two pillars, and was likely the transom over a Buddhist altar.
