This carved dark hair crystal snuff bottle is a 1970’~1980”s product. It is 3 ¾” high, 1 3/8” wide and 1” thick. It is carved as a bamboo stalk with small branches and leaves around it. There are two dragonflies resting on the stalk. It has an agate cap. It is very well hollowed and it is in great condition.

Japanese limited edition cement mortar block print pencil-titled in kanji "Poem 68-2" (indicating production in 1968) by Maki Haku (1924-2000). Pencil-signed and numbered 26/50 in the lower margin. The artist's square red seal is at the lower right corner of the image. This print features the highly embossed ideographs characteristic of Maki's work. The designs were created by inscribing on wet cement. Paper size: 17" x 17 1/4" (image size: just under 16" x 16"). Very good overall condition.

A spectacular silver and gold lid covers this small basin by Tomimoto Kenkichi enclosed in a wooden box titled Aka-e Tsutsugata Yunomi and annotated within: Made by Tomimoto Kenkichi Sensei in 1925 signed by Tsujimoto Isamu (for more on him see below). The cup is covered inside with creamy white, outside in red with decoration of gold plum blossoms. A cast iron beast, probably a tiger. The elongated shape of the animal, the size, the sagging of the back, suggest that it is a brush rest. There are a lot of modern cast iron copies, which may be the case here, but we can certify that this little tiger has been in the Sakura collection for at least forty years, which proves nothing.
