A small Paktong Ink Box with engraved landscape decoration, made in China during the Republic period (1912-1949) or earlier. Chinese Tang Style Black Jade? recumbent foo dog Lion scholar object possibly a scroll weight. Well carved foo lion in a black stone with very heavy wear on the base showing what seems to be hundreds of years' worth of wear as well as the mid-section of the body. Export seal on head. this came from the estate of a noted archologist. Size l 3.25" w 2" h 1.6"

A beautiful old Chinese scholar seal with very intricate carving on both sides. It could be from a famous scholar or VIP. It has normal usage wear. Size 1-4/1"x1"

This inlayed Chinese ebony brush holder is 7” high and 6 ½” in diameter. It depicts a Shou Lao (god of longevity) holding a cane; a young boy carrying a flower basket stands behind him. Another young boy wearing a red robe is leading a deer cart filled with flowers and plants and walks in front of Shou Lao and his companion. The inlayed materials are dyed coral, mother of pearl, lacquer and hard stone. It is a 1950’s product. Aside from small age cracks, it is in great condition.

1900s

Each cake is molded with designs of scholars on the fronts and raised calligraphy on the reverse. The designs on the front are all gilded in two shades of gold, and the reverse has gilt seals and some script gilded as well. Each piece is unused and is in good condition.

It is 1.45 inches (3.7 cm) tall by 1.57 inches (4 cm) wide. It is 23.8 gram.

It has inclusions, flea bite chips, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

This well carved stone laughing Buddha is 3 ¼” high (with wood base is 5” high), 4 ¾” wide and 2” in depth. It depicts a laughing Buddha (Budai in Chinese; Hotei in Japanese) comfortably leaning on his ever present cloth sack. His left hand holds a ruyi scepter; his right hand holds a gold nugget. A young boy is resting on the Buddha’s right knee. Aside from natural blemishes on the back of the statue and two crack lines in the wood base, it is in great condition.

A nicely patinated soapstone stamp seal, Chinese, 19th.-20th. century AD.

A nice seal from the Gustav Oberländer collection, aquired the late 1980s to the collection. In yellowish brown soapstone with carvings on all sides in archaic style. Some wear and marks of use.

Size: 40 mm. tall and 27 mm. wide.

Condition: Choice, nice old patina.

This white and pink carved coral piece was made around 1960. The artist used the natural coral shape to create two dragons. It is 5 ¼ inches tall and 6 ½ inches at the widest part. Though the subject is common, the carving and polish are very well done. It is in great condition.

Four (4) lotus pods莲蓬 with moving seeds莲子活动. Patina 皮光 is excellent.

A Chinese couplet scroll in calligraphy excerpting from a work composed by the noted literati scholar, Su Dongpo from the Song Dynasty. Work contains the signature and seal of Zheng Xiaoxu (1860-1938).The two line couplet expresses how as there are different ways to point out the errors in an embroidered robe, or a crane hesitating to fly has yet to mature into an immortal.
