Very old mask with black soot patina representing a demon or Raktsatsa which is the local name. We can notice the very high quality of sculpture which is a sign of a grade of seniority, at least early 20th century. The mouth is wide open with menacing teeth to accentuate the frightening aspect. It is probable that the shivaite trident improperly engraved on the forehead is posterior to the sculpture of the hardwood mask in excellent condition. H 21 cm

A Chinese sacrificial-red (ji hong) glazed stem bowl. There is a six-character Da Qing Dao Guang Nian Zhi mark inside the bottom of the stem foot, but it was probably made in 20th Century. There are heavy scratches inside the bowl, no other flaw beside this. Diameter: 7"; height: 4".

Enigmatic script in Doro-e raised design decorates the sides of this simple white glazed chawan by 20th centiury Master Kawai Kanjiro enclosed in a wooden box endorsed by his wife Tsune. Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 7.5". This is an example of kokeshi made in Fukushima Prefecture, other than its better known cousin of the "Tsuchiyu" tradition. This was made in 1968 at Takayu Onsen (Takayu Hot Spring) by the artisan, Shinogi Toshio, when he was 37 years old. Shinogi-san was born on September 3rd, Showa 6 (1931). A Chinese antique porcelain bowl in underglaze blue. The outside of the bowl is surrounded in lotus scrolls while the inside shows a phoenix in flight with a scroll border surrounding the foliated rim. The base rim left unglazed. The base glazed with a four character mark stating "Da Ming Nian Zao" (Made During the Great Ming Dynasty) surrounded by double circles in underglaze blue.

It is 26.4 inches (67 cm) tall by 8 inches (20.4 cm) wide. The amber is 11.2 inches (28.5 cm) tall by 5.7 inches (14.6 cm) wide. It is 15.1 Lb.

This Japanese doll looks like a woman from Ukiyo-e (pictures of the "floating world") wood block prints. She is sensual and inviting; posing to fix her hair with a hair pin. To do so, she would need to tilt her head sideways and gently pull out the hair pin so she wll not make a mess of the hairdo. The process takes delicate movement of the fingers and is also a chance to show off the area behind her neck which is considered to be the most sensual place to show for a women wearing a kimono.

Beautiful little cloisonne bronze box by artist Nanaho Inaba of the Inaba Cloisonne Company in Koyto, Japan. It features many colorful little flowers on the lid and is in excellent condition. Measures 3.5 by 3 inches.

Japanese Washi Paper Book, Elementary School History Book, Ca. Miji 1895, 8 3/4" x 6 1/8" wide, 3/8" thick, approximately 56 pages of Japanese Kanji plus illustrations on double Washi Paper, the condition is good.

Chinese antique small display shelf with stand, made of hong-mu. A staggered shelf in the middle breaks up the square area. The front and sides of the unit is carved with delicate lined details and cusped edges. On each side of both the top and bottom shelf is a little window (four total) and the back is open. The underside of the base has a black lacquer panel painted with a butterfly and chrysanthemums.
