Beautiful calligraphy box made from precious Chinese zitan wood, with carved compartments for an inkstone and water dropper. Kanji markings on bottom of dropper, aged piece of wood also with kanji marks is included in this set. The inkwell still has old ink remnants. Gorgeous woodgrain with a lovely shine. Each cake is molded with designs of scholars on the fronts and raised calligraphy on the reverse. The designs on the front are all gilded in two shades of gold, and the reverse has gilt seals and some script gilded as well. Each piece is unused and is in good condition.

This Bizen stoneware sake bottle is made with natural ash glaze.
The works of Motoyama Izumi are held in Brooklyn Museum in New York.
Bizen pottery was originally produced in Imbe village of Bizen province since Kamakura period of 14th century.

Measuring 15 x 16.5 this embroidered purse from Afghanistan is in excellent condition and dates to the mid to late 20th century. Silk thread on cotton, in satin stich and brick stitch. White beads on corded tassels surround the edges. Condition is excellent. Estimated age late 20th century.
A pair of goldfish lantern made of washi (handmade paper) and bamboo strips which is the origin of Nepta (or Nebuta) used at Nepta festival in Hirosaki city in Aomori prefecture. The goldfish lantern made of paper and bamboo strips were used till around 1980s, but now it is replaced to one made of vinyl and wire. Oversized limited edition etching and relief print by Ouchi Makoto (1926-1989) titled “Firebird” dated 1971. This very well carved small lapis snuff bottle is 2 inches tall, 1 5/8 inches wide and 3 /4 of an inch in depth. It is 1970¡¯s product. One side depicts two cranes standing under a pine tree; the other side is plain. The color of the lapis is quite dark and interesting. It is in excellent condition.
