Pair of decorative leather bound bookends with brass accents. Silver tone metal mounts of a Griffon accent the brass; gold tone stitching accents the rich brown leather. Bears logo of Mark Cross in gold on the bottom of each piece. The bookends measure 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall, 5.5 inches (14 cm) deep and 6.25 inches (15.9 cm) wide. This tsumugi (raw, knobby silk, similar to tweed) purse was purchased at the well-known Kyoto antique textile shop Nakamura Chingiriya in 1972. It is unused and still has original box. H.6"(15cm) x W.6.25"(16cm.) Snap closes on one side, with eyelet for a hand, shoulder, or waist strap on the other. Indigo dyed folk materials and an elegant purse design make it suitable for kimono or jeans.

A vintage pierced sterling silver napkin ring c1920s by Roden. Roden was bought out by Birks in 1928. It is stamped STERLING with the Roden company mark. Birks bought all Roden's inventory and parts and molds, and the Roden mark can be seen on some Birks silver items until several decades after. This 1-3/4" across napkin ring is 5/8" wide, and it has (remarkably) never been monogrammed...

This desirable pattern glass pitcher was made by the Mosser Glass Company of Ohio which used hand pressing to create its beautiful high quality glass. This beaded shell pattern is especially nice with its whited rim and foot. The quatrefoil foot is scalloped holding the body whose stippled walls frame the finely shaped Deco style fan shell in high relief. The rim is also scalloped with lovely undulating ebbs and tides...

A hand-carved wood statuette of a man, approximately 11" high, 3" wide, the wood possible oak but not definitively determined. The creator did not sign the piece. Age is also unknown though mid 20th century is likely. Could be American or maybe European.

Chinese 20th century Eggshell Porcelain Famille Rose Dragon Vase of amphora form finely hand painted in bright enamel with six red, yellow, and green dragons on a Famille Rose Millefleurs and gold background. The flaring neck rim is decorated with bands of Ruyi scepter heads. The base is encircled by a border of foaming waves and rocks.

Ancient Chinese green Jade crouching figure pendant. The figure has Hongshan features, the back end has a dragon face. The bottom note the iridescent deposit in the center . The sharp angled conically drilled holes for the cord and shows cord wear from extended use. Great pendant with no modern tool marks, this came from a collection collected in Hong Kong 1980s-1995 . The collection was extensive with mostly ancient jade pieces . Size just over 1.5" by 1.25"

An exquisite image of an emaciated man, the prominent bones about the eyes softly glowing pale white over the hollow cheeks. The mask is of the Yase-otoko type, and is signed on the back by the maker Iwasaki Hisahito in a carved seal above the eye. Superb craftsmanship!
Iwasaki Hisahito is a well known Mask carver currently 78 years old and still going. He was born in Oita prefecture, but moved to Nagoya then Yokohama at a youthful age...

Measuring 36 x 222 cm including the beaded tassels, this wedding turban from Hazara district in Pakistan is hand-embroidered in mostly dark pinkish-red floss silk on an indigo dyed cotton ground. The meticulously worked satin stitch is typical of Hazara embroidery with close links to the phulkari embroidery of Punjab. One end of the turban is missing the tassles. Estimated age: mid to late 20th century.

This Fenton cameo opalescent bell was produced in 1980 and stands 7" tall. Cameo opalescent was first made in the mid 1920's. This bell was made from goblet molds originally owned by the Redcliff Company (whom made ironstone dinnerware.)

Small drum handle probably from the small drum of a young shaman. The patina is light brown with beautiful sculptures showing deep reliefs. The design remains classic with a dorgi with deep vertical sculptures, the beak of the Makara is original with a bold circular opening, each side of the triangular tip is carved of the Shiva trident, a pair of intertwined snakes and a standing shaman. Juban (under kimono) made of hand-spun cotton with shibori design, dyed with vegetable indigo. The shibori technique of the top part is Te-Kumo Shibori (Hand-bound Spiderweb) and the lower part is Kanoko shibori (Bound Dots) and Boshi shibori (Capped Motifs) with mum design, which is dyed in Akita prefecture. Cotton cloth inside is also hand-spun and vegetable indigo dye. In good condition except for mending in the back (the last image). The first half of the 20th century. 121cm x 130cm

Beautiful Japanese Wajima lacquer stand with gold maki-e painting on a nashi-ji (pear skin) background. The designs are scrolling vines with stylized chrysanthemums and paulonias, which are the crests of the emperor and empress. The style of sparkling nashiji lacquer work and the theme were popular in the Taisho period (1912-1926) to the beginning of the Showa era, sometime after the return of the throne to the emperor.
