A rare and vivid Imari ware porcelain tea pot, made around 1850 in the famous Hichozan Kiln. Hichozan was a trade name used by the group of Arita kilns & makers mainly for export during the late Edo to the Meiji period in the 19th century. Their works are hold in museums and from collectors worldwide.
A Fu lion is hand-painted on the body. The signatures of "Hichozan" and the potters name are written on the bottom.
No chips, no cracks, just great...

An Arita plate of scalloped form painted in kakiwake style with a Chinese Pheasant and rock motif surrounded by pomegranates in the centre, and trailing foliage to the rim, including Peonies and Plum flowers. The dish dates to the late 18th century circa 1780-1800.
The rim decorated with a brown glaze. The reverse undecorated and the interior of the footring displaying faux chattering. The plate measures 17.5cm in diameter and stands 2.8cm high...

This late 19th or early 20th century Japanese Imari vase is 13 ½” high and 6 ½” on the widest part. The ribbed body was painted a traditional gold, orange and blue floral and bird design. There is a Shishi (lion) on the top of the domed shape lid. It is in great condition.

A small eggshell-thin dish with a decoration of two birds and two fan-shaped panels - one with a landscape, the other with a poem (?), all in a variety of colours, 19th c. Wing of one bird has been painted as to conceal a glaze bubble, an indication of age. Overglaze red marks: Hirado san, Mikawachi. Diameter "5 ½/ 13 cm. Condition: fine.

A good Arita sometsuke style dish probably from one of the favoured inner set of kilns at Arita, the so-called Uchiyama kilns. The dish is decorated with a border of stylised waves, painted in reverse style, with a single branch of a Camelia Tree in the centre. The underside of the dish decorated with a pair of sketchily painted Gourd vines. For an identical dish see no 216 of the Shibata Collection Part II at page 87...
