During the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897), ceramics were considered to represent the highest quality of achievement from royal, city, and provincial kilns, the last of which were export-driven wares. Joseon enjoyed a long period of growth and production, which is still preserved today.

A Korean brass bowl on a high foot and a brass box of the type that was used to decorate a family altar when worshiping their ancestors. The bowl was used to hold burning incense, and the incense was stored in the box. Extremely Scarce Set of Five Prehistoric Korean Arrowheads from Korea's Neolithic Period 8000-1500 BCE. These faceted arrowheads are identical to the Neolithic arrowheads on page 31 of the catalog, the 29th United Association of the University Museums of Korea Exhibition - Korea's Bow and Arrow, The Military Academy Museum. Sizes range from 1.75 to 3.25 inches. It is unlikely you will ever again see prehistoric Korean arrowheads offered for sale.

A large, heavy, Korean brass candle holder, consisting of six parts: (1)a base pan on which screws the (2)candle stick, (3)a small pan to contain the wax, (4)a bracket to hold the light reflector, (5)a fan shaped light reflector which is secured by bat shaped brackets on both sides, and (6)a candle snuffer. This candle stick dates to the turn of the Century, Yi Dynasty, and measures overall 32 3/4" high. The base pan measures 10 3/4" in Diameter x 2 1/2" high. The condition is excellent.

Wan shaped tea bowl made of fine, unrefined clay with a small content of iron oxide. The clay shows few impurities and stones. The inside has been stamped with flower patterns (hanamishima) between circular lines both were filled with a fine, white engobe before a transparent ash glaze haze was applied. The bowl has a beautiful shape and is well balanced and has been used for many years as the stain inside and around the rim indicates.

Choson Period, ca. early 1800s
This jar is stoutly potted, having a tall neck and flaring body, resting on a thick grit-coated footring and slightly recessed base. It is clear glazed without decoration. Small gray and brown iron impurities in the clay freely show through the clear glaze. This is a mingei type folk craft item intended to use in the home. There are several stable hairline cracks from age, stained brown in the rim area.
