A Very Rare/Fine/Korean Carved Wood Block Printing Panel (능화판菱花板)-19th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century...

A Korean, inlaid slip (sanggam), celadon brush washer for the scholar's desk; Goryeo dynasty. Delicately potted and with a fine coloured glaze, this washer is fully glazed with three kiln-support marks to the foot. It is inlaid with floral decoartion to both the interior and exterior. Dimensions: 10.9 cm diameter. Good glaze condition, some overpainting to the rim, and an associated hairline. Additional photos are available upon request.

Chogappo made of fragments of choma (ramie), one of bast fibers, which is recycled from ramie textiles and dyed with sumi (ink) later. Pojagi is the general name for the wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchworked with asa (choma or hemp) fragments. Buncheong ware in a flattened ovoid form with a raised foot finished with a wide flared rim. It is decorated with a creamy colored slip and the faces are painted with a leafy plant in brown slip, all beneath a clear glaze with a faint celadon tint where pooled in drips along the shoulder, the creamy slip and the glaze are also applied within the recessed base...

"Muji Hakeme Chawan" which is brushed with white engobe over dark color paste containing iron, and then burned with clear glaze. A Very Fine/Rare/Large Korean Buddhist Painting (Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva)- 19th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 18th to early 19th century, Amit’a, the Buddha of the Western Pure land, and Attendants. Painted in polychrome mineral pigments on silk. It’s in fine condition with colors but has some creases associated age. it measures 53 ½” h. x 52” w. Antique Korean pair of nong, bedside chests for storage. Made of zelkova elm wood panels with cypress wood frame. Hardware is made of brass and has butterfly shaped door latches and hinges. The upper portion of each chest has a row of 4 small drawers with handles featuring bat shaped back plates. There is additional decorative corner hardware on the body and doors of the chest. Hinged doors open to a large open compartment. The doors themselves are finely inlaid with contrasting hardwood...

"Bun-in" is the last kiln for Joseon court. And there, high quality and sophisticated works were made. The chamfered vase is very rare on late Joseon. A refined Korean Buncheong celadon vase. Buncheong refers to the technique of incising a repeating pattern on the clay surface and white clay is filled in creating a strong contrast of greys and celadon colors with the white lines. Choson Period, ca. early 1800s

This jar is stoutly potted, having a tall neck and flaring body, resting on a thick grit-coated footring and slightly recessed base. It is clear glazed without decoration. Small gray and brown iron impurities in the clay freely show through the clear glaze. This is a mingei type folk craft item intended to use in the home. There are several stable hairline cracks from age, stained brown in the rim area.
