A 19th century (Edo to Meiji periods) gilded bronze branch bearing three golden fruits, each of which opens to reveal a small compartment. It is 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) long, 6 cm (2-1/2 inches) tall and comes enclosed in an age darkened kiri-wood box. Certainly of Buddhist connotations, it likely held some small sweets or incense.

Hand formed copper vase with waves in annealed silver signed on the side and enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the 1950s. It is 20 x 15 x 21 cm (8 x 6 x 8 inches) and in excellent condition.

In bhumisparsa mudra, sitting on a stepped lotus stand. Originally the Buddha was holding a fan, which is missing. It dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. H. 29 cm.

Very large Japanese Taisho to early Showa period cloisonné enamel wide shouldered vase tapering to a narrow base decorated with a dense assorted floral spray on the front and a single flower to the back all set against a dark blue ground. Lovely example of Han tomb sculpture. Made of red pottery, painted with red, white and black pigments. Both are in good condition, with normal age wear. Please note the remains of plant roots on one of the oxen, a very good sign of authenticity. A TL report from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age. H. 16 cm, L. 20 cm. Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD).

Of oval shape with lovely feet in the shape of leaves (lotus ?). The inside richly decorated with panels with trmple gardens, flowers and butterflies. Originally this bowl was part of a large dinner service, commisioned by the Dutch East-India Company. Dimensions: 31x24x8 cm. Condition: one chip of 1x0,5 cm, otherwise perfect.

We can see in the style as well, here he has adopted a very western watercolor approach, that this is one of his post-war works...

A ghoulish character from the Otsu-e pantheon, the Oni no Nenbutsu, a devil in priests robes, stands grinning, hammer in one hand to bang his bell and a ledger in the other in which are noted all the peoples sins. This figure is carved of wood and covered in lacquer and mineral paints. Dating from the 19th century (Later Edo period) it is 13 inches (33 cm) tall. There are some losses to the pigments accentuating the antique feel.

Signed on the base by the renowned workshop of Uriarte in Puebla, Mexico, this very big tibor, or urn, measures 23" high, roughly 19 1/2' wide at the shoulder and weighs 32 pounds. It is decorated in the classic Talavera colors of blue, green, yellow, orange and black over a creamy slip. A dragon rides in a swirl of movement atop this silver and damascened Koro incense burner by Chosa Yoshiyuki. The sides are decorated with images of plum and pine. The bottom is signed Yoshi-saku, and bears the stamp 900 delineating the silver content. It is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) tall, 3-1/2 inches (9 cm) diameter and in fine condition, enclosed in a period heavy kiri-wood box.

Of solid cast bronze, and weighing 10 pounds, this simply detailed Buddha measures 12 3/4" from feet to top of ushnisha, and 13 1/2" including wood base. This Buddha is classicaly Sri Lankan, from the elegant and thin form to the flame or Sirispata Ushnisha on the head. Nicely detailed, with a deep brown patina, the figure is in excellent condition, with a minor loss to the central flame tip, visible in photos. Very striking in size and style, it appears to date to the early 20th century.

A lacquered and iron bound round lidded box called a kubi-oke made to carry the head of a man taken in battle or that of a man after committing ritual suicide for offering to the lord. It is 13 inches (33 cm) diameter, 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall with large handles from which it could be carried on a pole. There is mouse damage on one part of the bottom, but has not eaten through to the inside.

A very unusual Katana held in a saya (scabbard) made to look like a gnarled branch cut into a poor man’s cane. When pulled a spring-loaded mechanism releases two iron flanges creating a very effective tsuba hand guard. The blade is unsigned, measuring Nishaku nissun nibu {26-1/2 inches (67.3 cm)}. The remnants of a piece of paper remain glued to the saya with the name Masaaki Noma (?) written in cursive Roman letters, followed by UZUMASA, an area in Kyoto city. The end is capped in metal, ...

The cover has a small loop with a center hole. The teapot has a "C" shaped handle with a gentle curving spout on the opposite side. The inside has been left unglazed with one square hole for the pouring spout.

The base is also unglazed and recessed. In the center is a 4 character mark of "Ge Mingxiang" surrounded by a square border.

There is a simple wave design within the clay that surrounds the teapot at the base.

Chinese plaque done in Qianjiang style with a crane flying over with a tree in the scene. There is a poem written in black ink in the upper left corner with a seal in iron red below it. The plaque has an overall orange-peel effect on the surface.

The spherical body consisting of two hemispheres, locked together by a bayonet fitting. Each half reticulated with five roundels, two of them stylized shou characters and inlaid with floral motifs in mixed metal. The insert of ring gimbals with the central bowl is missing. Please compare with Sothebys sale "Later Chinese Bronzes from the Collection of Ulrich Hausmann" on 08 October 2014 in Hong Kong. Brilliantly colored riders charge into rushing water on the gold leaves of this 18th century six panel screen relating the famous charge at the Battle of Uji Bridge. Tatsuna and Kagesue charge forward into the waters riding toward the enemy lined up on the opposite shore of the Uji River; the skeleton of the bridge visible in the back-ground.
