The name of Kyotos Sueharu is synonymous with seihakuji celadon. He has been displayed numerous times at the prestigious Nitten, Nihon Togei Ten (National Japanese Ceramic Exhibition) and Nihon Gendai Kogei Ten (National Japanese Modern Crafts Exhibition) among others. He is held in the Yale University Museum among others. This tall, footed vase is hand-thrown by one of the master potters of Tamba, Ichino Hiroyuki. It has knife-cut faceted sides and is glazed in iron brown on the exterior with a white-glazed interior. A “hi” mark in hiragana is on the interior of the foot. It is accompanied by its original, artist-signed paulonia wood storage box. Good condition.
